  1. Didn't change anything on my system at all as far as I can see.
  2. Turns out the above problem (shutdown during installation) was the same problem as before - GPU/CPU overheating. Temporary fix with a fan just to install. ? Installed successfully - added the PCIRootUID=0 boot flag to successfully boot. Now just setting up, and then to install all the kexts - hopefully with a fix for the overheating. Will be back with the results, and a list of kexts used if all works.
  3. I gave that patch a go, but nothing changed unfortunately. I figure it's a problem more so with the graphics than just the processor, as when my display turns off the laptop runs smoothly at about 40 degrees. It rockets up when I use a couple of tabs on Firefox. The graphics kext I'd decided to use wasn't specifically for my graphics card, but it was the only one that worked - kind of. I figured that's the heating problem. I've decided to install Mountain Lion (would have been Lion but I couldn't make a bootable USB out of it) but unfortunately the laptop shuts off during the installation - not sure what the cause is yet. I suppose it could possibly be a heating problem still? Is there a log I can get to? The installer loads up fine, it's the installation itself that shuts down the laptop.
  4. Thanks for your reply Kamesennin I attempted to install Lion previously using the retail version but had problems just booting the damn thing haha. Though now I have this Hackintosh to create a bootable USB I may give it another shot if I can't get the heating problem resolved on the current installation. ? I'm pretty sure I've attempted to install a patch for it before, but it was a little time ago now I can't remember. I've found one on {censored} (not sure if I can post the link here) so I'll give it a shot and be back with the results - Thanks!
  5. I'm running a similar setup of AMD Phenom II x6 995, ASUS M5A99X EVO, 6GB DDR3. Unfortunately I've not been able to boot the installer at all. I am also running an NVIDIA GT520 (could be the cause of my problems I suppose). I've tried the following boot flags: I get a black screen after the loader loads all the files, but it might be worth a shot if you're having trouble booting the installer.
  6. I tried booting this on a USB flash drive, for some reason it just says "Reboot and select proper boot device". I've tried with both Disk Utility (on 10.6.8) and Transmac (Windows)
  7. I'd just assumed it was NVIDIA graphics cards that caused problems? Now you've said that though, I'm interested in the answer as I'm trying to get Lion or ML on my Phenom II. I also read SL was even easier to install though. If you have too much trouble with Lion or ML, might be worth giving that a go.
  8. I'm having trouble getting my CPU fan to run, my CPU is running at anything from 70 - 90°C. I tried running these kexts: Hackintosh fan work, cpu throttling, battery power kexts 32/64 - Downloads - OSx86.net But unfortunately AppleACPIPlatform just gave me a kernel error, and when I removed that, the other kexts changed nothing. I assume the only other way to fix this is modifying my DSDT. The only problem is I don't know anything about DSDT's, what to change, or even where to start. Any chance anyone can help me modify my DSDT, or give me an alternative solution? P.S. I've tried modifying my BIOS to have the fans on constantly, but I've changed what settings I can and nothing seems to have changed. Edit Oops! Forgot to even say I'm running OS X 10.6.8
  9. Installed the remaining kexts and no change. Battery works fine already from another kext. Unfortunately CPU fan isn't spinning, CPU is at 81 degrees. Samsung R530 (Pentium dual core) - 10.6.8
  10. I installed just AppleACPIPlatform.kext and it caused a kernel panic. To resolve the kernel panic, you have to remove it by booting from your OS X installation media, and remove it using the installations Terminal. I'm going to try the other 3 files and see how they go. I'm on 10.6.8
  11. I stupidly missed step 6 I'm having some AirPort problems (not checked for any others, but I've read online that others are having USB problems too) Is there any chance anyone has those kexts so I can install them on my system? Edit I've found the kexts I need, but copying them to my laptop with OS X on is proving to be difficult. The network is down because there's no AirPort connection. I've tried bridging with the ethernet on my Windows PC, but that's a no go. I've also tried copying the kexts to a USB and then copying them to the OS X laptop - unfortunately as soon as I copy the files to the USB the laptop wants to format the USB again. I've tried the USB with both Fat32 and exFat. Any suggestions? Edit2 Turns out my USB was being recognised, it just wasn't mounting automatically - odd. All fixed!
  12. If this didn't work for you, then chances are this one will: http://www.osx86.net/downloads.php?do=file&id=1316 It says 'Acer webcam solution' but it works on an ASUS one I have. I haven't tried it with any other webcams but it's just generic - should work with all!
