  1. I'll take the risk and give it a go... If it blows... I got a backup USB so i can put it back ? I'll report back in a moment with results ? Edit: Well, i learnt 2 things... ? 1.) Apple doesnt like my CPU. I got a "NO HPETs..." kernel panic. ? 2.) The ACPI backtrace is nothing serious, when the system panic'd i was able to see, when SMC loaded it was just saying what it was using... ? I attached the panic images below, for referencing purposes. ? ? Conclusion: It seems without the DSDT the system is running smooth, with the updated FakeSMC and App linked by HackinDoge, i am now able to see the systems temperatures in relevant areas (CPU/etc), thanks for that! ? If anyone wants to/sees a reason to, feel free to edit my DSDT and send it to me to try... I'd be interested, and quite curious if there was anything even worth editing ? Theres just 1 more odd thing... Anyone have any idea why i can boot up in Verbose mode, but not shutdown in verbose? It worked before but suddenly stopped. The same happened on my MacBook Pro when i had it so im guessing its software related. When i shutdown or reboot i just get a grey screen, so if the system panic's or simply hangs for whatever reason i never get to see why/where it hung/crashed. ? Panic images for reference...? <- The reason there is 2 images is because the system froze before actually panicking... ? ?
  2. The ACPI error...whatever it is doesnt seem to be affecting anything... that im noticing anyway but still, was just curious if it is affecting anything at all, even on a smaller scale. The GPU in this works perfect, i've been playing games with it through Steam no problem and everything remains nice and cool (Unlike in Windows, where everything heats up and crashes lol) ? Response from Terminal was: Mac-Pro-Device:~ Billy$ kextstat | grep NullCPUPowerManagement 14 0 0xffffff7f81130000 0x2000 0x2000 org.tgwbd.driver.NullCPUPowerManagement (1.0.0d2) <7 4 3>
  3. Ok its installed and you are right, they arent running constantly at their stock speed. The CPU cores are all switching between 1.60GHz and 2.66GHz, i am assuming this is normal? Light load = slower speed, higher load = stock speed...? Speedstepping basically? ? The ACPI backtrace thingy came back... sort of anyway. The backtrace bit isnt mentioned, but this is... 4. Hmm, its looking more and more like i dont need my DSDT at all... I went to console to check if i got the error without DSDT? I see this... ? 02/06/2014 18:39:15.000 kernel[0]: FakeSMCKeyStore: started 02/06/2014 18:39:15.000 kernel[0]: FakeSMC v6.0.1148 Copyright 2014 netkas, slice, usr-sse2, kozlek, navi, THe KiNG, RehabMan. All rights reserved. 02/06/2014 18:39:15.000 kernel[0]: FakeSMC: 13 preconfigured keys added ? ? So what i need to find out now is... If 6.0.1148 is the latest version ? Edit... Turns out it isnt... i found this: http://www.osx86.net/files/file/4045-fakesmc-with-plugins-and-hwsensorsapp/
  5. Oh! Thats something else i remember too.. FakeSMC always reports it couldnt find a key or something? I'm sure its "FakeSMC: Key not found -b" or something...? I might see if theres a newer version out (I got a system backup so not worried too much if install implodes ) ? Thanks for the info too, i'll look into that!
  6. I did have HWSensors installed yes but they only ever showed the HDD temps? The same goes for iStatPro which also only shows HDD temps... ? Whats odd is, with the DSDT gone the system seems smoother... But it was smooth when i first installed the DSDT too... ? Edit: Also, as far as i know its operating at its stated frequency of 2.67GHz... Any way i can check for sure?
  7. Hey guys! ? I noticed a slowdown in my system recently, to the point where i was about to wipe and reinstall everything... ? As i was booting up the USB installer... It booted quickly and i didnt get an ACPI backtrace when booting like i usually do... So i tried something... I rebooted with "DSDT=NO" flag, and my system is once again at a nice smooth speed... ? What im wondering is, is my DSDT faulty? When i dont use it, theres little to no errors on the verbose boot whereas i'd usually get an ACPI backtrace (Not a KP though!) and a few other errors. ? Can anyone take a look at this and see if it needs fixing? When i first setup the system i ran a DSDT patcher GUI app. ? I can say that so far my system is running fine without it, but i am told DSDT's can keep systems in a smooth running state for when newer updates and software are released that might not support what my system has? ? Here are my system specs: ? Intel Core 2 Quad @ 2.67GHz (Registers as a Quad Core Xeon in profiler) 8GB DDR2 800MHz RAM 1GB GTX 460 GPU (Hooked up via HDMI to my TV) SMBIOS is: MacPro3,1 Motherboard: Asus P5B-VM ? DSDT: dsdt.aml.zip ? If it helps, here is the full SMBIOS and also the Chimera boot file... ? 8. -Removed- Turned this into a tutorial
  9. BEFORE CONTINUING PLEASE NOTE: THIS TUTORIAL FOCUSES PURELY ON POST-SETUP STEPS! THIS MEANS THAT THE MAC OS INSTALLER USB HAS ALREADY BEEN PREPARED BY YOU! ? IF YOU ARE HERE BECAUSE THE INSTALLER ISNT DETECTING YOUR HARD DISKS? DOWNLOAD THE FILE:? Archive.zip???? AND ADD THE FOLLOWING KEXTS TO THE USB's?? /SYSTEM/LIBRARY/EXTENSIONS FOLDER:? JMicronATA , ApplePCIIDE , IOATAFamily and IOStorageFamily.?? THEN WHEN YOU BOOT, BE SURE TO DISABLE ANY KEXT CACHE's , THIS FORCES ALL KEXT FILES TO BE LOADED AND YOU SHOULD THEN BE ABLE TO PROCCEED. ? Ok, so you want to turn your Asus P5B-VM Setup into a hackintosh running 10.9? (As of writing this, 10.9.2 is latest) Great! Read carefully and follow all instructions and i am certain you'll succeed! ? Update: As of Wednesday 2nd April 2014: This setup is running 10.9.2 with ease. ? ? MY SETUP (If you follow my setup Exactly, you have a slightly better chance of this working right away!) ? CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad @ 2.67GHz ? RAM: 8GB DDR2 800MHz RAM ? Drives: 1x 750GB IDE Drive , 1x IDE CD/DVD Writer , 2x SATA Hard Disks (1x 500GB (Mac OS Drive, RAID PORT , 1x 250GB (Windows 7, SATA PORT 1) ) ? Motherboard: As the topic states, Asus P5B-VM ? Graphics: GTX 460 1GB GDDR5 ? BIOS: ? JMicron PCI SATA/IDE: AHCI ? Memory: Ensure the memory overlap option is on if you have over 4GB RAM. ? ACPI: S3 Only ? Memory Speed: 800Mhz (Or the system forces 600Mhz for some reason) ? WHAT's WORKING: ? USB Ports all work OOB ? Red SATA Ports 1 and 2 only work (with driver), the rest do work but the Mac OS will refuse to aknowledge they exist. Have the solution? Let me know! ? Black RAID Port (Near the Graphics Card): Works! - YOU MUST PLUG YOUR SATA MAC OS DRIVE HERE! I recently discovered the red ports are really SATA-IDE ports and since i had 2 IDE devices on the bus also, it was causing the bootup sequence to sometimes halt with "Still waiting for root device". You should be safe using the red SATA ports if you only have ONE storage medium installed (So no other drives, even DVD drives.). ? Internal Firewire Header and Firewire port at back panel: Works! (Must Delete AppleHPET Kext file or you will get a system fault error detecting the FW bus) ? IDE Bus: Works (with driver, included here) ? Graphics: Works! (Full QE/CI Hardware Acceleration, also bootloader flags need to be set correctly, included below. An Asus GeForce 210 (1GB GDDR3) has also been tested to work and requires same method mentioned here to get it working) ? eSata: UNKNOWN! I dont own any eSata devices ? Ethernet: Works! (With Driver from MB{censored}) ? Audio: Works! (With Driver) ? iCloud: Works ? iMessage: Doesnt work for some reason, never gets passed activation ? Other: Have i missed anything? I do apologize, simply ask and i'll let you know and then add it here ? ? =========== ? STEP 1: Setup 10.9 Install USB ? Once your USB is setup, and the Mac OS installed, let the system reboot and BOOT FROM THE USB AGAIN, this time selecting the hard disk you just installed the Mac OS onto. =========== ? STEP 2: Next Steps... ? Now that your done with the installation, continue with setting up the system. Ethernet doesnt work yet so skip any network questions and also anything to do with iCloud/Keychain. ? =========== ? STEP 3: Final Steps ? You're almost there! Download this file: ? Archive.zip And this: ?? Extra.zip And this: MB{censored} - Mavericks Edition (Cannot be linked here!) And finally, this: KextWizard.zip ? Extract them to the desktop and you should have the following: FOLDER: Extra? , FOLDER: Archive? , FOLDER: MB{censored} - Mavericks Edition? APP: KextWizard.app. ? Go into the MB{censored} folder and open the MB{censored} App.? Press the Bootloaders button and tick the "Chimera 2.2.1" box. Now press the Build button and MAKE SURE ITS BEING INSTALLED TO THE CORRECT DRIVE! You can select this on the right. ? Once the installation is done, Quit MB{censored}. ? Now open a new finder window and click on [YOUR MAC OS DRIVE NAME HERE] (Also known as the Root of the drive ( / ) ) , now drag the Extra folder into this window and drop it. (If your drive doesnt appear on the left? Goto Finder preferences and enable internal drives to appear by clicking the "Hard Disks" check box.). If you are asked to overwrite the Extra folder then thats alright, go ahead and overwrite it. What we've done there is made sure your boot flags are pre-set and also the SMBios too. (WARNING: THESE MAY NEED CHANGED IF YOUR SETUP DIFFERS ALOT FROM MINE!). ? Now run the Kext Wizard application, goto Installation. Now open the folder; Archive , drag all the kext files into Kext Wizard and ensure the install destination is /System/Library/Extensions?? and also that the "Backup Extensions" box is checked too. (Just incase!). Once it states that the task is completed goto Maintenance and? check the System/Library/Extensions box and execute the task. Wait for it to finish... ? Reboot! If all went well, which it should have, you should now have a fully functioning system, internet, graphics, etc... Dont forget to delete AppleHPET kext file from /System/Library/Extensions if you want working firewire! ? ? ? Problem? PM ME! Dont spam here with "OMGAWD! IT NO WORKING! HELLPP MEEEE!" or similar such messages. PM me with the problem, provide screenshots and i will do my best to assist you. I AM NOT AN EXPERT BUT THAT DOESNT MEAN I WONT TRY TO HELP YOU!?? REMEMBER TO BACKUP REGULARLY! Carbon Copy Cloner is a good app to use for live-backups (Backups while OS is running) without having to worry about corrupt bootloaders when restoring.)
  10. I got it working! IDE now works (Only wanted now for an old 750GB drive with a load of media on it ) ? The only problem i want to resolve now is SSD not working? I have a OCZ Vertex 4 64GB SSD installed, the BIOS detects it fine however Mac OS doesnt? Nothing whatsoever, any ideas? ? -Thanks ? (Sidenote: A tutorial with the steps i took and files i used will be posted when all problems are resolved )
  11. Sorry for the very late reply, unfortunately that didnt work either
  12. Evoreboot kext solved shutdown problem. Applying the ApplePciIDE Kext now... ? Update: Kext did not work. Installed in S/L/E ... Trying Extra/Extensions... ? Update: Didnt work there either. ? Any other suggestions?
  13. It seems a new problem has arisen, when i shut down the system, the OS shuts down but the computer itself doesnt shut off? ? This didnt happen before, it may be the DSDT, i cant tell. I have attached it here as well as my chameleon boot parameters file incase anyone wants to take a look? I will try the ApplePciIDE after the shutdown issue is resolved. ? The last message to be seen at shutdown is "CPU HALTED" and then the screen goes blank but the hardware itself is still on ? DSDT:dsdt.aml.zip ? Chameleon boot parameters:org.chameleon.Boot.plist.zip ? Thanks for all your help so far!
  14. Update: I got Graphics to work (in safe mode at least so far) by adding this to boot file: "GraphicsEnabler=Yes" and "npci=0x3000" . Is this the file you refer to??PCI CONFIG BEGIN.zip?(Inside is a folder "10.6.7 ACPI PCI Kexts" and inside that folder are 2 files; "AppleACPIPlatform.kext" and "IOPCIFamily.kext" ? Thanks for the help so far? ? Update: FIXED! I compiled a DSDT for this system and it works a charm now...so far, haha. Sound working, Graphics, Bootloader, just need to check IDE drives work and then i'll be all done! (I'll also update my first post later too with instructions for others )
  15. Update: Requested image of KP; (I apologize if its too big, if so, please resize!) ? ? Booting with -x SEMI-WORKS! When it gets to loading the desktop, the graphics card doesnt seem to work. Its a Nvidia GeForce 210 (Asus Silent Model). At the verbose boot i can see "Nvdanv50hal loaded" and also during boot i see things like "GeForce Sensors: BIOS: (Bios rev number of card here)" ? Any ideas?
