  1. Edit: Manually editing "Hamachi" Framebuffer plus InjectATI gave me sure boots all day. Even after updating to 10.9.2 - only when the reboot is disturbed, I need to stop the machine, press the bios button on the card and it works again. Weird but f' it. ? So now, I am done. Everything works Sound over DP, iCloud, Updates, Speed Step. Only sleep is missing - but I can wait for Clover to fix that. ? Here is my happy screenshot: ? ? the original post from this morning: ? Err, I might have been looking in the wrong place all the time. ? TL;DR : It seems that my Sapphire Twin-X R9 280x OC is faulty. ? Yesterday I moved the Clover install from USB to my SSD. Just after the install finished I commenced a reboot. After the system shutdown and reset, the screen remained completely dark. That was the first "huh?". I let it sit for some time, then pressed the by now nearly worn out reset button, yet the screen remained dark. Second ?"huh". Powered it off. Let it sit for a minute, powered on again. Dark still. Now I went more like "what the almighty f****".? I turned the machine off, rattled on the graphics card, pressed the ports a little, gave it a bitch slap and powered on again. Then I got a screen, it went to Clover but...for several boots I got either the grey screen described in my post #1 or just verbose messages with the Intel kext error. Long story: I deleted DSDT, preference files, tried a golden master config.plist, Bios reset - eveything. Nothing helped. F'n voodoo I thought. ? Theeeen: I turned the machine off, took out the card, cleaned the contacts, dusted the ports etc bla bla. Pressed the bios button on the card a couple of times and put it back in. Tadaaa, it booted up without a hitch.? So...it is the card. Or the mother board with the card... I have no other explanation. ? It works perfectly in Windows for heavy gaming, albeit the AMD drvier crashing sometimes and the 2D screen flickering with a previous bios, so the power unit is out of the problem zone. It must be the card, because the black screen on powering up has nothing todo with OS X or UEFI or Windows. I will ask Sapphire for something less shitty. ? Here are some enlightening log entries: ? This one repeats a lot of times when I boot and see nothing but the grey screen or a sudden hang in the system: 06.03.14 08:24:53,000 kernel[0] Trying restart GPU ...06.03.14 08:24:54,000 kernel[0] GPU Hang State = 0x0000000006.03.14 08:24:54,000 kernel[0] GPU hang: 06.03.14 08:24:54,000 kernel[0] Trying restart GPU ...06.03.14 08:29:10,000 kernel[0] GPU Hang State = 0x0000000e06.03.14 08:29:10,000 kernel[0] AMDTahitiGraphicsAccelerator: ** Device in slot: SLOT--1 **06.03.14 08:29:10,000 kernel[0] ** GPU ASIC Log Start **06.03.14 08:29:10,000 kernel[0] 0x0000679806.03.14 08:29:10,000 kernel[0] 0x0000009606.03.14 08:29:10,000 kernel[0] 0x0000000106.03.14 08:29:10,000 kernel[0] 0x0000001806.03.14 08:29:10,000 kernel[0] 0x0000f7d0...For now it remained working for some boots, but I will contact Sapphire. ? Edit: I will check for editing to correct FB into Clover.plist and then try with injection, maybe that makes things more stable and enables slee:?http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/285756-hd-7xxx-can-we-eliminate-the-sleep-trick/page-8#entry1915219
  2. Ok, this thread is solved. Yay.? ? This final config.plist boots the machine reliably: ? <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"><plist version="1.0"><dict> <key>ACPI</key> <dict> <key>DSDT</key> <dict> <key>Debug</key> <false/> <key>ReuseFFFF</key> <false/> <key>Name</key> <string>DSDT.aml</string> <key>DropOEM_DSM</key> <true/> </dict> <key>SSDT</key> <dict> <key>DropOem</key> <false/> <key>Generate</key> <dict> <key>PStates</key> <true/> <key>CStates</key> <true/> </dict> </dict> </dict> <key>Boot</key> <dict> <key>Log</key> <false/> <key>Timeout</key> <integer>5</integer> <key>XMPDetection</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Secure</key> <false/> </dict> <key>Devices</key> <dict> <key>USB</key> <dict> <key>Inject</key> <true/> <key>FixOwnership</key> <true/> </dict> <key>UseIntelHDMI</key> <false/> </dict> <key>GUI</key> <dict> <key>Mouse</key> <dict> <key>Enabled</key> <false/> </dict> <key>Scan</key> <true/> </dict> <key>Graphics</key> <dict> <key>Inject</key> <dict> <key>Intel</key> <false/> <key>ATI</key> <false/> <key>NVidia</key> <false/> </dict> </dict> <key>KernelAndKextPatches</key> <dict> <key>AppleRTC</key> <true/> </dict> <key>SMBIOS</key> <dict> <key>Trust</key> <false/> </dict> <key>SystemParameters</key> <dict> <key>InjectKexts</key> <string>Yes</string> </dict></dict></plist> ? It is interesting that the automatic kext injection only works the syntax edited-in through the Clover configurator. ? Deleting the DDST and SSDT files from the /patched folder enabled the change of multipliers, it seems that speed step is at least partially working without the DSDT and SSDT. Downside is that now I don't have DisplayPort Sound working. But DDST and SSDT are topics for the next thread.? ? Next steps: Get sleep working with this UEFI boot setupEnable HDMI sound through discrete GPU without DSDT, but with config.plist injectionUsage of all C- and P-states for power conserving and scalingGet some quiet fans, that beast it too loud to replace the smooth iMac aging on my desk? 4. ? Agreed, let's wrap this one up ? I am booting with??AppleIntelCPUPowerManagementInfo.?The page you linked actually offers a pre-built one for download. The kext runs in the background, the logs of which I shall post later. It showed me some C-states, but the results are non-conclusive so far. ? Currently I inject the following kexts: ACPISensors (related to HWmonitor)AppleCPUPowerManagementInfoCPUSensors (related to HWmonitor)FakeSMCGenericUSBXHCIGPUSensors (related to HWmonitor)LPCSensors (related to HWmonitor)I didn't install NullCPUPowermanagement or Disabler.kext by hand or knowingly. The install was a clean via the Clover installer. I will check at home, though. Maybe one of those is loaded by clover. If none of those are loaded and Clover loads my SSDT and DSDT, powermanagement and speedstep shall work, eh? With that I also expect Sleep to work. ? ? ? Checking HWmonitor it seems that it remains at that frequency. I started a bunch of tasks generating artifical CPU load in the terminal, the frequency remained at that according to HWmonitor
  5. ? I am back? It was a lot of fun, as always - can only recommend it to anyone, even - or especially - if you don't speak German. ? I had some minutes last night to fiddle with things and I think I am getting close to have a working config.plist for booting, after which I can change this topic to [Closed]. Could you check over this config.plist? If this one is working, I will focus on SSDT and sleep/hibernation. ? <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"><plist version="1.0"><dict> <key>ACPI</key> <dict> <key>PatchAPIC</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>DSDT</key> <dict> <key>Debug</key> <false/> <key>ReuseFFFF</key> <false/> <key>Name</key> <string>DSDT.aml</string> <key>DropOEM_DSM</key> <false/> <key>Fixes</key> <dict> <key>FixLAN</key> <true/> </dict> </dict> <key>SSDT</key> <dict> <key>DropOem</key> <true/> <key>Name</key> <string>SSDT.aml</string> <key>Generate</key> <dict> <key>PStates</key> <false/> <key>CStates</key> <false/> </dict> </dict> </dict> <key>Boot</key> <dict> <key>Log</key> <false/> <key>Timeout</key> <integer>5</integer> <key>XMPDetection</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Secure</key> <false/> </dict> <key>Devices</key> <dict> <key>USB</key> <dict> <key>Inject</key> <true/> <key>FixOwnership</key> <true/> </dict> <key>UseIntelHDMI</key> <false/> </dict> <key>GUI</key> <dict> <key>Mouse</key> <dict> <key>Enabled</key> <false/> </dict> <key>Scan</key> <true/> </dict> <key>Graphics</key> <dict> <key>Inject</key> <dict> <key>Intel</key> <false/> <key>ATI</key> <false/> <key>NVidia</key> <false/> </dict> </dict> <key>KernelAndKextPatches</key> <dict> <key>AppleRTC</key> <true/> <key>KextsToPatch</key> <dict> <dict> <key>Find</key> <data> cgoATWFjUHJvNCwxAE1hY1BybzUsMQBY </data> <key>Name</key> <string>AppleTyMCEDriver</string> <key>Replace</key> <data> cgoAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAABY </data> </dict> <dict> <key>Comment</key> <string>Trim Enabler</string> <key>Find</key> <data> QVBQTEUgU1NE </data> <key>Name</key> <string>IOAHCIBlockStorage</string> <key>Replace</key> <data> AAAAAAAAAAAA </data> </dict> </dict> <key>RtVariables</key> <dict> <key>LogEveryBoot</key> <string>10</string> <key>LogLineCount</key> <integer>1000</integer> <key>MountEFI</key> <string>Yes</string> </dict> <key>SMBIOS</key> <key>SystemParameters</key> <dict> <key>InjectKexts</key> <true/> <key>CustomUUID</key> <string>Deleted for posting here</string> </dict></dict></plist> ? 6. All of you are very helpful, I really appreciate it. ? Last night, after disgustedly casting the machine to the side, I came back to boot it a few hours later and search through the Clover GUI options. In the CPU section I found an option for Fix/patch APIC - not sure how it was called exactly. ? With this enabled, the machine boots up with automatic SMBIOS injection to an iMac13,2 - also the About Mac screen still shows a MacPro image, the description fits. So the machine boots and shutdowns without any further activated fix. ? That patch was not in the Binary patching section of the gui, but CPU. Can I be sure that the CPU now is handled correctly? ? I also created a manual DSDT based on the extracted (pressing F2) one with an HDMI/Display Port Audio patch - now sound works flawlessly via the DisplayPort. ? Sleep won't work, but that is another issue. Now I just would like to know if all C and P states of the CPU are working correctly and if my GPU runs accelerated. ? For the weekend now I am heading towards Karneval, more mingling with this fun project on Monday ?
  7. Alright, the SMBIOS definition and subsequently the CPU detection might be the source of all evil ? If I change the system definition to MacPro3,1 without a SSDT: boots flawlesslyWith MacPro3,1 and SSDT: grey screen & mouse cursorWith automatic SMBIOS, Clover puts in iMac13,2 result: grey screen & mouse cursorAutomatic SMBIOS & SSDT.aml: grey screen & mouse cursor? So something must be wrong here with the way the CPU is recognized. Maybe it is the BIOS or the Board? ? I tried the fixes in combinations, nothing changes: - AICPUPM patch - AICPUPM patch + Apple RTC - AICPUPM patch + Apple RTC + Kernel Lapic ? AppleRTC is always on, otherwise the CMOS gets erased. ? Any way I can generate helpful logfiles?
  8. ? I am home and had some time to experiment When I let Clover add the SMBIOS info it adds the iMac13,2 data set. Then it won't boot. If I change manually to MacPro3,1 it does boot. Are there any drawbacks from this? Like less P- and C-States and higher Power consumption or can I ignore this? ? Now I am trying to get Sound to work Sleep I will ignore for now.
  9. ? Thanks, I will check one fix at a time to get the system to make a sound and sleep. Now that I found a config that boots, I will not rush it. ? The config.plist that works injects fixed SMBIOS info. Is this recommended? P- and C-states are important for power consumption and I would like the machine to ?be quiet and conserving. Power has become very expensive here in Germany. Is it genereally considered better to let Clover decide on the smbios info? ? Great guide, I will try to pick up what is necessary for my system, specificially creating the SSDT and DSDT after boot. A question, why do you re-install clover in step 6 on the pen-drive again? You already booted from that at this stage, or not?
  10. Dear all, I had some success this morning. I attached a DSDT.aml I have from an older install. With this one sound over DisplayPort works, the machine also falls asleep, but after wake-up it freezes within seconds. I can still move the mouse, though. If I remove it from the patched folder, the machine boots up, but no sleep or sound again. DSDT.zip ? 12. ? Now I am scared. The card is still working in Windows, 2D and 3D. So I hope it ain't broken.?
  13. ? That is one massive blog post - with some massive work, if this is needed.? The fact that it booted once and booted with Chimera, doesn't this indicate that patching the kext by hand is not necessary? As I understand the process, this would be needed with every OS update where the drivers are changed. I bought the 7970 (R9 280x) with the goal that it would work without such middling, as forum users commented it is natively supported by OS X starting with 10.8.5
  14. ? Wow, fast response - thanks also for adding the Spoiler code ? I tried several config.plists - pretty sure one was also without Intel inject tru - I will try again tonight, though. Interesing why the clover installer choses this option by itself. ? I know that ATI inject leads to a black screen after the apple and circle screen. With chimera the r9 280x, which is a hyped 7970 tahiti, booted without GraphicsEnabler and injection, just OOTB.?
  15. Hello everyone, ? I ususally don't like to register just because I need help or ask a question. It's not really giving back to the community, but I am just not able to get my Clover setup to work by itself. ? I switched to Clover and did a complete re-install after coming from Chimera. For that?I created a USB stick following some tutorials I found online. The EFI drivers on the stick are listed below. The only injecte kext is FakeSMC in the 10.9 kext folder ? I am using UEFI boot. My specs: CPU: Core i5 3470 GPU: AMD Radeon R9 280X - (works nearly perfect ootb) RAM: 8GB MOBO?Asrock Z68 Pro3 Gen3 - beta bios allowing CMS off option OS: 10.9.1 The install process took very long (kinda got stuck at the "Less than a second remaining" screen during the first install phase, but after some time it rebooted and installed the rest. I was able to log into the newly installed Mavericks directly after the install with the stock config.plist created by the Clover installer. UEFI drivers: EmuVariableUefi-64 FSInject-64 HFSPlus OsXAptioFixDrv-64 OsxFartBinarxDrv-64 ? Current status After the first boot (which was succesfuill, see above) I followed the Clover wiki to generate a config.plist with genconfig and put that on the Stick. Ever since then the following happens: No matter what fixes I activate or deactivate, the System boots to the Apple Logo, sticks for some time with the spinning circle and Apple logo, then it switches to an all grey screen, I see a mouse pointer and thats all that happens. Sometimes the mouse pointer switches to a spining beach ball of death. No activity on any LED after that. I am really stuck here. Could it be the config.plist? I tried creating several with the configuration editor and wiki help, but non boots the system anymore. So sad. Please help? Also, I posted a thread seeking help creating a DSDT.aml when I tried out Chimera on another forum. ?See here?with Clover, I understand, such anDSDT is not needed, as it can be created once the system has booted up with a working config.plist. This is current config.plist I am trying out, it was created by the Clover installer package: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"><plist version="1.0"><dict> <key>ACPI</key> <dict> <key>DSDT</key> <dict> <key>Debug</key> <false/> <key>Fixes</key> <dict> <key>AddDTGP_0001</key> <true/> <key>AddHDMI_8000000</key> <true/> <key>AddIMEI_80000</key> <true/> <key>AddMCHC_0008</key> <false/> <key>AddPNLF_1000000</key> <true/> <key>DeleteUnused_400000</key> <true/> <key>FIX_ACST_4000000</key> <true/> <key>FIX_ADP1_800000</key> <true/> <key>FIX_INTELGFX_100000</key> <false/> <key>FIX_RTC_20000</key> <true/> <key>FIX_S3D_2000000</key> <true/> <key>FIX_TMR_40000</key> <true/> <key>FIX_WAK_200000</key> <true/> <key>FakeLPC_0020</key> <false/> <key>FixAirport_4000</key> <true/> <key>FixDarwin_0002</key> <false/> <key>FixDisplay_0100</key> <true/> <key>FixFirewire_0800</key> <true/> <key>FixHDA_8000</key> <true/> <key>FixHPET_0010</key> <true/> <key>FixIDE_0200</key> <false/> <key>FixIPIC_0040</key> <true/> <key>FixLAN_2000</key> <true/> <key>FixRegions_10000000</key> <true/> <key>FixSATA_0400</key> <false/> <key>FixSBUS_0080</key> <false/> <key>FixShutdown_0004</key> <true/> <key>FixUSB_1000</key> <false/> <key>NewWay_80000000</key> <true/> </dict> <key>Name</key> <string>BIOS.aml</string> </dict> <key>DropTables</key> <array> <dict> <key>Signature</key> <string>DMAR</string> </dict> <dict> <key>Signature</key> <string>SSDT</string> <key>TableId</key> <string>CpuPm</string> </dict> <dict> <key>Signature</key> <string>SSDT</string> <key>TableId</key> <string>Cpu0Ist</string> </dict> </array> <key>HaltEnabler</key> <true/> <key>SSDT</key> <dict> <key>EnableC2</key> <false/> <key>EnableC4</key> <false/> <key>EnableC6</key> <true/> <key>EnableC7</key> <false/> <key>Generate</key> <dict> <key>CStates</key> <true/> <key>PStates</key> <true/> </dict> </dict> </dict> <key>Boot</key> <dict> <key>DefaultVolume</key> <string>MacHDD</string> <key>Fast</key> <false/> <key>Legacy</key> <string>PBR</string> <key>Log</key> <false/> <key>Timeout</key> <integer>5</integer> <key>XMPDetection</key> <string>-1</string> </dict> <key>Devices</key> <dict> <key>Audio</key> <dict> <key>Inject</key> <string>No</string> </dict> <key>FakeID</key> <dict> <key>ATI</key> <string>0x0</string> <key>IMEI</key> <string>0x0</string> <key>IntelGFX</key> <string>0x0</string> <key>LAN</key> <string>0x0</string> <key>NVidia</key> <string>0x0</string> <key>SATA</key> <string>0x0</string> <key>WIFI</key> <string>0x0</string> <key>XHCI</key> <string>0x0</string> </dict> <key>Inject</key> <false/> <key>USB</key> <dict> <key>AddClockID</key> <true/> <key>FixOwnership</key> <true/> <key>Inject</key> <true/> </dict> </dict> <key>DisableDrivers</key> <array> <string>Nothing</string> </array> <key>GUI</key> <dict> <key>Hide</key> <array> <string>Windows</string> <string>\EFI\BOOT\BOOTX64.EFI</string> </array> <key>Language</key> <string>en:0</string> <key>Mouse</key> <dict> <key>Enabled</key> <true/> <key>Speed</key> <integer>8</integer> </dict> <key>Scan</key> <dict> <key>Entries</key> <true/> <key>Legacy</key> <true/> <key>Tool</key> <true/> </dict> <key>TextOnly</key> <false/> <key>Theme</key> <string>applestyle</string> </dict> <key>Graphics</key> <dict> <key>Inject</key> <dict> <key>ATI</key> <false/> <key>Intel</key> <true/> <key>NVidia</key> <false/> </dict> <key>PatchVBios</key> <false/> </dict> <key>KernelAndKextPatches</key> <dict> <key>AppleRTC</key> <true/> <key>AsusAICPUPM</key> <true/> <key>Debug</key> <false/> <key>KernelCpu</key> <false/> <key>KextsToPatch</key> <array> <dict> <key>Comment</key> <string>External icons patch</string> <key>Find</key> <data> RXh0ZXJuYWw= </data> <key>Name</key> <string>AppleAHCIPort</string> <key>Replace</key> <data> SW50ZXJuYWw= </data> </dict> </array> </dict> <key>RtVariables</key> <dict> <key>LogEveryBoot</key> <string>10</string> <key>LogLineCount</key> <integer>3000</integer> <key>MountEFI</key> <true/> </dict> <key>SystemParameters</key> <dict> <key>InjectKexts</key> <string>Detect</string> <key>InjectSystemID</key> <true/> </dict></dict></plist> ? ?
