All things PC (anything with a processor really and some things without): web design, hardware functionality, basic coding, gaming, OS optimizations, video editing
  1. I've been looking for a specific fix all over the web and so far, no luck. So I'm hoping someone here has additional insight. I'm trying to boot the installer with only one GPU inserted. Anyone have ideas? I'm using clover in ESP, the exact GPU is: Sapphire tri-x R9 280x 3GB RAM, OC edition UEFI... I'm willing to do lots of homework I just need a little direction.

  3. That could be tough as I don't have friends who are into computers and I only have one box with the two R9s, at least for now. This has gotten me thinking about building another box with intel base.? However, I haven't tried booting with one GPU since switching to Chameleon nor have I messed around with the graphics enabler. I'll have a go with those before I call it quits. ? Do you have any ideas I could look into for getting around a graphics issue like this one?? ? Finally, this has gotten me thinking about building another box based on intel. From what I understand, OSX would be more likely to accept one of the R9s if it's on an intel board. Is that true?
  4. Hi again, ? I tried booting with the chameleon plist you sent, using a Mac Pro 3,1 SMBIOS. I got an error message that seemed a bit different but still no dice... Maybe I have a perfect storm of incompatible hardware? Screenshot attached. ?
  5. I had a quick go with chameleon last night, using 2510. I definitely got me farther but I had some issues with some of the apple services. I did not do anything SMBIOS or DSDT, I just entered arguments (plist attached) and added basic kexts (fakeSMC, etc) in a folder I created inside Extras. I attached my last screen also.. ? ? Thanks for the help!! ? <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"><plist version="1.0"><dict><key>EnableDualLink</key><string>Yes</string><key>Kernel Flags</key><string>-v npci=0x3000 kext-dev-mode=1 dart=0 -x</string></dict></plist>?
  6. -s did not work either. I'm guessing the kernel is bad?
  7. HI Dmos, ? I tried booting with -x last night but it gave me another error message, this time regarding the kernel cache. I'm not sure how to handle that one either... I attached a screenshot here though. ? ? I only had time for the one attempt last night, but I figure I'l try -s tonight.? ?
  8. I took another crack at this last night and I tried several kernels: 10.10.4 that I linked previously, 10.10.3 and just for kicks, a 10.10 kernel. None of them worked for me. I got kernel panics with all of them. ? ? I attached a shot of my last lines before the kernel panic"VM Swap Subsystem is on", as well as a shot of the panic itself. "invalid kernel ip...." the text just kept scrolling, it seemed to be caught in a loop. The only thing that seemed to change was the size of RAM disk log file. ? The thing is, the panic seems to be the same regardless of the kernel, which leads me to believe that the issue is not with the kernel itself. Maybe I'm doing something wrong... ? A lot of these kernels come with edited kexts. Should I replace the kexts found in S/L/E with these, or simply add them to the appropriate Clover directory? Or do I add it to the plist as kexts to patch? ? Is there a way for me to check the version of my Install?OS X Yosemite.app in order to figure out what kernel version I need? ? I hope you can help me figure this out, I feel like I am getting very close... Thanks!
  9. I keep getting a kernel panic with this. FX 8350 R9 280X
  10. Thanks, I'll switch to that plist ASAP. Here's a link to the kernel I tried: ? http://www.hackintoshosx.com/files/file/4550-amd-os-x-yosemite-10104-kernel-v1/ ? It comes with some edited kexts: AppleACPIPlatform and IOPCIFamily.kext, along with one additional "pthread.kext" I copied the originals and replaced the AppleACPI and IOPCI located in S/L/E on my installer USB and added them to Clover as well, in the 10.10 kexts folder.? ? I do have access to a Mac laptop which is now running Yosemite 10.4
  11. Thanks Dmos, npci 0x3000 got me further but I hit a kernel panic. After running the update on a Mac, I saw it installed Yosemite 10.4 so I went ahead and changed the kernel in my USB installer to the only Yosemite 10.4 AMD kernel I could find here. When I attempt to boot now, I get the panic in my screenshot. ? My updated config.plist: ? 12. Here is a shot of my last screen. And a link to my plist: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3O3bh4O3ErHVk1TanpnRHl1UVU/view?usp=sharing ? Finally, a copy of the plist contents:? 13. Hi, I'm using a USB installer I made using an OS X command from DMOS' guide on creating a vanilla installer in OSX (very good guide btw.) I added a folder (S/L/kernels) containing an AMD kernel for 10.10. I put nullcpupowermanagement, Ethernet and audio kexts into S/L/E of the installer and the appropriate folder in the EFI clover partition. I used the clover configurator to set up a plist with kext dev mode and verbose boot. Everything goes fine until I see the line "PCI configuration begin." I will post a screen here now and upload my plist ASAP.
  14. Ok, my config.plist is attached. If you can think of any site or guide that would help in building a yosemite installer that would be great. Even a website to search for guides google has not been useful. Even just a site to look at, anything I'm grasping at straws here ? config.zip
