  1. Well guys, when i'm install ML2 on my machine the graphics card isnt work well except audio and network... with some searching i find way to install snow leopard (10.6) and my graphics, audio, lan, wifi is working perfect (as people on google say). But i cant find any informations about kexts, bootloaders etc. i try with iB{censored} with GraphicsEnabler=No to make the installation, laptop isnt wake up from Registration Information at the end. When i'm install bootloaders to HDD, laptop starts with no graphics, no audio, no network, After that i'm try to install MB{censored} and when i'm select only ps/2 kext laptop isnt boot up after restart. What can i do? I'm going crazy! Acer is running with Core2Duo 1.6 and 2GB Ram (tomorrow i will put 3 or 4GB ram before next installation.)
  2. Hello everyone . I just spent quite some time trying to figure out how to dual/multi-boot OS X using GRUB2. Found some hints here and there, but never a finished explanation. Meantime, the answer is far from being complicated (is this the reason why there are no explanations?). So I thought, why not publish a small HOWTO answering a couple of "obvious" questions one cannot avoid trying to then boot OSX86, when it's installed alongside other OSs like Linux, MS Windows, FreeBSD and others. First of all I've noticed (correct me if I'm wrong) that MAC OS X installer has difficulties working with GPT disks created by other programs. For example, mine was created by Linux parted utility and MAC installer's Disk Utility ended up not seeing the partition prepared for it. Now among the advantages of GPT against MBR is the ability of the former to accomodate more than 4 primary partitions. So my HDD already had 15 partitions, one of which I decided to use for Hackintosh installation. The idea failed with Mac installer not being able to detect the partition in question (although seeing some other ones on the same HDD). Hence my CONCLUSION: you better start up with the GPT partition table created by the Mac installer and install Mac FIRST. The Mac installer's Disk Utility doesn't seem to understand things other than partition the whole disk -- ok I had to agree to that, creating a 56Gb partition for Hackintosh and partitioning the rest of the HDD the way the installer wanted. No problem, will change it later to my own needs to install other OSs. This, however, is important for the OSX installation; once it's finished, GRUB2 WILL see the partition. ... So after Hackintosh is installed on the /dev/rdisk0s2 (cause /dev/rdisk0s1 is a special EFI partition at the beginning of the HDD, right?), what do I need to boot it with GRUB2? Basically, with GRUB2 you have 2 options: either install GRUB into the root of your HDD, or use a GRUB CD. Since GRUB2 supports booting from HFS+ partitions, the only quesiton I want to address here specifically is -- which file do we need to boot from the HFS+ partition. Now some howtos say you can use the documented GRUB2 command `xnu_kernel <your kernel>`: ... insmod hfsplus #this is essential set root=(hd0,2) #or whatever you partition xnu_kernel /mach_kernel #the kernle to boot For me this DIDN'T work and GRUB2 (latest release) had problems booting mach_kernel as "xnu_kernel". Was it because Kalyway's mach_kernel differed significantly from what GRUB2 understands to be xnu_kernel? Perhaps... Then other manuals recommend to use GRUB2 documented `multiB{censored}` command: ... insmod hfsplus set root=(hd0,2) multiB{censored} /boot This didn't work for me either, with error "/boot -- file not found". I don't know how it happened that /boot file wasn't found on my finished OSX86 installation from Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD (bootable from HDD OK), but here I just want to clear up the point and share how to fix it. So, the /boot file is, in case someone like myself doesn't know it yet, installed by Chameleon bootloader. Most importantly, you need this file to boot MAC OSX with bootloaders like GRUB2 (or Chameleon). The installation is trivial and described in many posts and docs. You download the last version of Chameleon and go into the subdirectory called "i386", where you find the bootloader installation files. So you open Applications --> Terminal and, assuming that you downloaded Chameleon into Downloads directory type the following: $cd Downloads/Chameleon*/i386 $fdisk -f boot0 -u -y /dev/rdisk0 $dd if=boot1h of=/dev/rdisk0s2 $cp boot / (Sure, you don't wanna type the "$" above). The first command `fdisk ...` installs the bootloader to the root of /dev/rdisk0 -- but I don't care about it if I'm planning to use GRUB2. The last command creates the /boot file in question, which is to be used with GRUB2 `multiB{censored}` command. More details on Chameleon installation you can find in Chameleon manual pages. And finally, in grub.cfg file we create this entry: menuentry "Hackintosh (or whatever)" { insmod part_gpt insmod hfsplus set root=(hd0,2) #your MAC partition multiB{censored} /boot } This boots you into your installed Chameleon bootloader prompt, which will either boot your MAC OSX with defaults in a few seconds, or let you add boot options you want, like "GraphicsEnabler=Yes". Having accomplished these unsophisticated steps I finally was able to multi-boot with GRUB2 my Hackintosh installation, no matter what version it is. Repeat it again: I was unable to find the explanation of these simple things from beginning to end. Therefore this post and I hope at least someone will find it helpful.
  3. This guide is completely Outdated... What you will find here still being usable but lots of new features and improvements where added and as I don't use Chameleon anymore I don't have plans to update this thread... Fell free to post here useful information then I'll add them to the main Topic... Hello Everybody! The beginners of the Hackintosh Universe, occasionally get a little confused with Chameleon settings, so I decided to create this post to clarify and streamline the most of the questions about this "Powerfull Bootloader" ... The folder Extra is on "Root System", or "the directory where you installed OS X" or "/" ... There, we found the file "com.apple.Boot.plist" which is basically a mirror of the original file which is in "/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration" and is the file where we set our "Preferences" for the system boot. The example below is from my "com.apple.Boot.plist". Note: For releases above 11xx you need to use "org.chameleon.Boot.plist" instead of "com.apple.Boot.plist". We also find the folder "Extensions" which is a mirror of the folder "/System/ Library/Extensions" and is the folder where the "kext`s' (drivers) for each hardware device of the system, working as a complement for him and allowing the installation of "Modified kext`s" that facilitates future updates of OS X. The file "Extensions.mkext" is a "cache" file and also mirror of the file in the folder "/System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup" that aims to reduce the loading time of the system, preventing the system on each boot to make a scan of the folder to verify existing kext `s. The file "smbios.plist" is a file used by Chameleon to "induce" the system to believe that it is running under a specific platform, providing information such as processor type, memory, Apple Computer, serial numbers, etc ... and supplying the use of SMBIOS injectors like AppleSMBIOSEFI, AplleSMBIOSResolver, etc ... The example below is from my "smbios.plist. The "Themes " folder is only "cosmetic", we can put themes for the BootLoader. Advanced Boot Options: These options can be used at Chameleon's boot, without changing com.apple.Boot.plist file and can be used for troubleshooting startup issues. 5. .. Since my other thread about this is dead and still never got a reply, I'll just do it again.. with more info this time.. So anyway, I'm trying to install the Chameleon bootloader on my laptop (specs below).. I tried Chameleon Chameleon Install 1806 and Chameleon Install rev1712.. they run fine, but.. both of them have a problem.. The problem is that when I click Install, nothing happens.. no message is shown.. nothing is installed.. just.. as if the button doesn't have a function.. I ran as administrator, updated .Net Framework.. everything, but.. nothing works.. Here are the specs of my laptop: OS - MS 7 Ultimate System - Dell Inspiron 1545 (X86-based PC) Processor - Intel Core 2 Due CPU T6400 @ 2/00 GHz, 200 MHz, 2 Cores, 2 Logical Processors.. BIOS - Phoenix ROM BIOS PLUS Version 1.10 A05 SMBIOS Version - 2.4 Installed Physical Memory (RAM) - 2.00 GB Total Virtual Memory - 3.93 GPU - Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family DAC Type - Internal Total Memory - ~781 MB Is there a way I can fix this? I don't have access to a Mac OS X operating system, therefore using MB{censored} or anything along these lines is impossible.. and my Laptop doesn't support Intel Virtualization Technology so I cannot use VirtualBox to install iAtkos S3 V2.. I can only use Windows to try to install a bootloader.. Any ideas on why Chameleon doesn't install the bootloader? ^^ Thanks..
  6. So I am running Snow leopard and whenever I am trying to boot into mac and I get the Chameleon screen, I would click the boot into mac thing and chameleon flashes and stops dead and reboots my computer. If I boot to my Windows 7 drive, no problem everything works fine. I tried making a bootable chameleon usb and the same thing happened, I choose to boot into mac and it flashes the screen then reboots. What is even more curious is that i can boot into mac if i use ModCd to boot into it. I can boot into windows with no problems at all. Thanks for looking. computer: samsung series 9 ultrabook np900x3c intel core i5 3rd gen intel 4000 graphics
  7. I couldn't find an appropriate forum section for this question so I put it in the 10.7 because that's what I'll be planning to install.. anyway ... I Hackintosh'd my PC before.. it ran fine, everything was fine except video, I couldn't ever find a kext for and I just gave up on it.. the methods I used back then was - 8GB USB with iAtkos ISO on it (used TransMac since I don't have an actual OS X).. Windows 7 with Chameleon Install 1806.. with that app I was able to install the Chameleon bootloader from Windows.. Now, I am trying the same thing again with the same methods, since it looks like one of my friends has found a Kext for my Video Card and I'll see if it works.. the problem is Chameleon Install 1806 won't install any bootloaders.. I open it, choose a theme (tried all) and click install but no message that it has been installed.. the Install button won't do anything.. +the bootloader won't install at all.. On my parents' laptop the bootloader installs fine with no problems, and I use the exact Windows version as them.. It worked on my PC before but now it doesn't.. any ideas? I tried compatibility mode and administrator mode etc.. still no luck.. I can't use iB{censored} since my PC's DVD/CD Reader is messed up and barely reads any DVD/CDs.. so I'm out of luck with that.. I also tried iB{censored} from USB but it wouldn't recognize my 8GB USB with iAtkos on it.. So yes, that's my problem with Chameleon.. I'm trying to install from Windows, it won't install at all.. but it ran before (this is a quite fresh installl of Windows by the way). Thanks..

  9. Hallo Community. I installed Mac OS 10.7.2 on my HP Elitebook 8440p. To do so I created a USB-Stick with U{censored}, so no iATKOS. Installation works super-good (though I had to install like 10 times now, cause I am a noob and destroyed the system a few times, but also I learned a lot doing this ) A lot of things run out of the box (e.g. Bluetooth, Webcam...) First thing I did was updating to 10.7.4 (using the downloadable combo-update from apples page). I created my own Backup-Solution in case I ruin the system with a Kext I (as a noob) cannot remove if there is a Kernel-Panic: I used the USB-Harddisk, which has 3 Partitions: 1. OSX Install (created with U{censored}) 2. Mac OS X Backup (I mirror my Mac OS Partition on this one using "Carbon Copy Cloner") 3. Disk (Just some free space, formatted in FAT to share Files with Windows-PCs, irrelevant here..) In case the internal Mac OS has Kernel-Panic, I just boot the "Mac OS X Backup"-partition from the USB-Harddisk and clone this partition back onto the internal harddrive => Mac OS is completely restored to the last backup-point. This solution works great for me as a noob. So far so good. OSX runs. Not working (unfortunately, but at least it's not a whole lot I discovered not working until now) is: - Wifi (Broadcom 43224 AG) - Sound I tried to fix Sound following this guide from "hans6408": http://www.osx86.net/notebooks/13175-successful-install-iatkos-l2-10-7-2-hp-8440p-detailed-process-description.html The sound was working, BUT I almost couldn't boot into the system anymore because of random kernel-panics at bootup. => Does anyone have a guide to get IDT HD Audio working or Broadcom Wifi? although I know, that Wifi and Sound are weak points of Hackintoshs. THANKS A LOT FOR READING THIS!!
  10. hi everybody, i've a problem with show leopard I applied the hack no longer need the legacy boot cd, but when rebooting the system does not fit, it is restarting again and again, which would you recommend? also mac does not recognize my ethernet port, someone could give me the kexts for this and tell me how to install? 12. Hello again, because I encountered a problem after installing iHack on iAtkos L2 (the PC won't boot, it went into an infinite reboot).. I decided to fully wipe everything off my Hackintosh Hard Drive.. which means the bootloader was also gone.. My method of installation was having an 8GB USB with iAtkos L2 (used Transmac to make the USB as HFS format and put the .dmg on it), and have a 4 GB bootable USB which has Chameleon v2.0 RC3 or iB{censored} on it so it can detect my HFS USB pendrive.. It worked fine but now the problem is that I can boot from the 4GB USB.. but it won't detect the iAtkos setup 8GB USB.. I tried with Chameleon AND iB{censored}.. I cannot use DVDs since my PC's DVD Reader is screwed up.. only USB available.. Oh and I also formatted the 4GB USB a short while after installing.. but I redid the same process of making the USB Bootable with iB{censored}/Chameleon on it ( I used YUMI ).. it boots fine, but while in the bootloader, it won't detect iAtkos L2.. how do I fix that?.. I also tried booting the PC with both USB's in but it still won't detect it in the bootloader..
  13. I installed iATKOS L2 ( OSX 10.7.2 ) on my Second Primary Partition on the first disk and it was working fine with the Chameleon Boot Loader, then I logged into Windows which was on the same disk but the first partition and from Windows Management I've set Windows Partition as the Active one, I have already EasyBCD installed, now when I choose The Mac partition from the Boot Menu it says: "Chain Booting Error", and When I insert iATKOS CD and choose Mac's Partition to boot from I have 2 issues: 1-The Mac partition which i named "MacPartition" is displaying as "Windows NTFS" in the iATKOS boot menu 2-When I choose it to boot from the cursor keeps blinking and screen freezes like that I believe that the MBR is incorrect or the Bootloaders on the OSX partition is damaged or something but I could fix it I tried booting into iATKOS L2 CD and went through setup > Terminal tried fdisk -u /dev/disk0 also fdisk -e /dev/disk0 f 2 active write and all the stuff described many where in forums but non of them solved the issue, I don't wanna re install the OSX as I Installed it almost 12 times during the last week, also I downloaded many apps from the app store like (XCODE) and I don't wanna re download it. Could anyone tell me how to re-install the boot loader or fix the mbr ? Thanks in advance.
  14. Hi, I need your advice to choose a bootloader for my dual boot (win7 and Lion) hackintosh. Should I go for iAtkos or chamaleon 2.1? Based on my list of componens which one would you recommend? I'm also concern about the graphic card. I could follow the above thread but no one states the "GTX 560 TI 448 Cores" edition works. http://www.osx86.net/view/1567-gtx_560_ti_for_lion_10.7_gm.html I will apreciate all the support you can give. Thx, Marta
  15. Hey guys, i've got a confusing problem which I can't seem to find any help for :/ On my laptop i have windows 7, ubuntu, and lion 10.7.4. On boot, i use EasyBCD to access the windows 7 boot loader which gives me a choice of windows, ubuntu etc... I can then choose Lion, and it takes me to the chameleon boot loader, from which i can choose my lion drive and load. I have to use this setup as when I install Chameleon and set that partition as active, the computer just loads: Boot0:Done_ and the underscore keeps flashing. So, I changed the boot drive to the windows, (I had to repair the windows and ubuntu using their disks) and voila, this is where i am now. The problem that I have is with chameleon: 1) Whatever changes i try to make to it - graphics, themes etc - it doesn't respond to ANY of them :/ Ive tried using both champ list and chameleon wizard. 2) It will not boot Lion 10.7.4, however it did boot my 10.6.2, is there any way to fix this? Ive used literally all the boot flags, and -v shows it loading all the kexts, then it flashes the grey screen with the apple the restarts. -.- Any ideas? Help is really appreciated!
  16. I downloaded the iATKOS L1 in DMG, restored it using disk utility apple and handed it to my USB stick. put Chameleon 2.0 to boot installation. So far all right. When I went to boot the PC, the computer recognized the USB flash drive and came with my Apple symbol. But when I enter it, the pc restarts, not starting the installation screen iATKOS L1. Have I done the wrong bootloader? What should I do to start the installation by USB? Note: I have the iATKOS S3v2, version 10.6.3, and I can not update it by update center. I looked at the tutorial, but do not think the same chameleon he used. (I used the Google translate) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RrzmYyahQTE

  18. Hi everyone. I have just installed Osx Snow Leopard (10.6.Dontknow) and havent installed any updates whatsoever. Using MB{censored}, I installed their "Chimera (Chameleon 2.0) Bootloader" Every time that I try to boot into OSX straight from the hard drive, it essentially tells me to hardboot my computer. When I tell it to boot verbose, it seems to have a processor panic. After this, I thought that I'd install the latest chameleon from this site (The one with the icloud fix in the title). The same error still occurs. When I boot from the CD (iB{censored}), I can load the OS Perfectly with no problems whatsoever. In fact, I'm writing this from my OSX now. Do you know If i need to just apply updates from apple or is there a new bootloader? or am I doing something else Wrong. (This is my first experience with Apple EVER, so I'm not very good) My specs are: 2.4ghz intel core 2 quad Q6600 4gb Corsair 800mhz ram asus P5e3 Board Nvidia Geforce GTX 295 Some generic laptop sata drive. Thanks in advance for your help! Stevo
