  1. Hello guys

? After a lot of testing I managed to get OS X 10.9 and 10.8.2 to work stable on my Lenovo G580 (2189), now I like to share my process with you. ? OS X 10.9 Mavericks with U{censored}: This tutorial is shorter than my older one (OS X 10.8.2 with iATKOS ML2) because it's less detailed. If you have problems to understand my instructions try solving the problem with reading the other guide, still this guide and the Mountain Lion guide are independent from each other. ? For laptop specifications and compatibility take a look into the OS X 10.8.2 guide. ? You will needU{censored} prepared flash drive, follow only step 1 and 2 of this guide (tick Laptop and Legacy USB support in U{censored} setup) (if you have problems use this interactive online guide)The kexts (kexts4mavericks.zip) which are found in the attached files section at the end of the post, the newest version of MB{censored} for Mavericks and KB{censored}, which are found?here?(you will need a {censored} account (it’s free))Setup Set your graphic device to UMA graphic in BIOS.Boot from your USB (may be plugged in a USB 3.0 port) using the boot flags "IGPlatformID=01660003 IGPEnabler=Yes".Go through the setup (create 2 partitions for dual boot; if you update from another version I recommend to just deleting the actual OS X partition so you don't need to reinstall Windows)On restart boot OS X (not the setup) from your USB flash drive again and use the same boot flags as before.Setup up your OS X.At this point you can optionally install the combo update, restart and boot your OS X from USB (with the boot flags) again. You will have working ethernet, download the kext4mavericks.zip, MB{censored} for Mavericks and KB{censored}. Alternatively you can put it on a flash drive and plug it in your laptop (use the 2.0 port, I guess it won't recognize the USB when you plug it in the 3.0 port).Move the Extra folder in the package to your drive you installed OS X on (since it is a clean OS X installation no Extra folder will exist at this point)Run MB{censored} and tick the following kexts and install (skip "Quick Start", click on "Drivers"; also ignore all fails and install the newest version of the drivers):VoodooHDA (install v2.8.2, worked very well for me (had problems with v2.8.4))FakeSMCPS/2 Keyboard/Mice and TrackpadsAtheros - Shailua's ALXEthernetPatched AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement --> OS X 10.9.0Chimera{censored} Black (optional)? ? ?9. Move the kexts in the zip package (6 kexts) to your desktop, run and install KB{censored} (ignore all fails again). ? ?10. Shut down OS X and restart, you won't need your USB flash drive and startup options anymore. Have fun with Mavericks! ? OS X 10.8.2 Mountain Lion with iATKOS ML2: My laptop specifications ? Intel Core i5-3210M @ 2.50 GHz
 ? Intel HD 4000
 ? GeForce GT 630M
 ? 6 GB RAM
 ? Conexant 20672 SmartAudio HD ? Atheros: AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter / AR3011 Bluetooth / AR8162 Fast Ethernet
 ? 500 GB disk space
? 2x USB 3.0, 1x USB 2.0 ? For maximum compatibility compare your specs with mine! ? Compatibility ? The microphone sadly doesn't work too (too silent). ? You will need ? •????? iATKOS?ML2 DVD (you can burn it with Transmac on your PC (use of an USB flash drive instead of a double layer DVD at your own "risk") ? •????? an USB hub, you'll need it while the OS X installation because both of your USB 3.0 ports won't work (I use?these, they work excellent) ? •????? an USB keyboard and an USB mice ? •????? The kexts (kexts.zip) which are found in the attached files section at the end of the post, the newest version of MB{censored} for Mountain Lion and KB{censored}, which are found here (you will need a {censored} account (it’s free)) ? Setup Press F2 while your laptop is booting to reach the BIOS setup and switch the graphic device to UMA graphic and exit saving the changes, this is necessary because OS X can't handle Nvidia Optimus which is used in our laptop. If you changed your BIOS settings before, I recommend to restore to optimized defaults before doing this step.
?While your laptop is at the boot screen press F12, you will reach the boot device selection menu. Now boot from the iATKOS ML2 DVD.
?When the DVD is loaded press F8 to enter startup options. Type "-x UseKernelCache=No" (the bootloader handles with the QWERTY key layout, some keys on your keyboard may be moved). ?Wait about 15 minutes, the OS X installation is loading.
?Now go through the installer (create 2 partitions for dual boot, one in the Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format and one in MS-DOS (FAT) format): ? ? ? Source: {censored} ? ? ? ?6. Now, where the installer finished and the system restarted we can move on. If you’re already on the chameleon boot ? ? ? ? ? ?screen, turn off your notebook first. This is the point where you need the USB hub. Plug in your USB hub in your USB ? ? ? ? ?2.0 port (the two 3.0 ports won’t work at the moment) and plug in your USB keyboard and USB mice. ? ? ? ?7. Turn on your laptop again and start the system with the boot flag „UseKernelCache=No“. ? ? ? ?8. Go through the OS X setup, you can navigate with your USB mice and your USB keyboard. ? ? ? ?9. When you reached your desktop you will have working Ethernet. Download the kexts, MB{censored} and KB{censored}, you ? ? ? ? ? ?can find the links in the „You will need“ section. Alternatively you can put the utilities on a flash drive and plug it in ? ? ? ? ? ? ?the USB hub. ? ? ?10. The first thing you do is to move the content of the Extra folder in the Kexts.zip to your local Extra folder. ? ? ?11. Now run MB{censored} and tick the following programs and install them (always install the newest version; ignore the ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?VoodooHDA fail message after some seconds when installations of MB{censored} succeeded): ? ·????? VoodooHDA?(install v2.8.2, worked very well for me (had problems with v2.8.4)) ·????? FakeSMC ·????? PS/2 Keyboard/Mice and Trackpads ·????? USB 3.0 – Universal ·??????Patched AppleIntelCPUPowerManager --> OS X 10.8.0 - 10.8.4 ·????? Chimera ·????? Theme {censored} Black (optional) ? ? ? ?12. Place all the kexts in the Kexts.zip to your desktop (6 kexts), run and install KB{censored} (this will install the kexts on ? ? ? ? ? ? ?your desktop automatically for you). ? ? ?13. Now reboot, you should have a (nearly) fully working Hackintosh (you don’t need any startup options anymore). ? (little) FAQ ? Problem: Bluetooth doesn’t work. ? Answer: It may be necessary to change the PID (product ID) and the VID (vendor ID) of your Bluetooth driver. ? Problem: Dual booting with windows. Answer: ? 1.?? For dual boot you have to change back your graphic device to switchable graphics again (if you need the graphics card in Windows) in your BIOS (F2 while booting), don’t forget to exit saving changes and it is very important to change back to UMA graphic when using OS X, otherwise you will not be able to boot into OS X. ? 2.?? Press F12 when your laptop is starting to get to the boot device selection menu and boot from your Windows DVD/flash drive (whatever you’re using for your windows setup, for me it is a Windows 7 disk) ? 3.?? Go through the setup, choose custom (not Upgrade) when you’re asked. Now choose the drive you formatted for windows in the OS X installation and format this drive again („Drive options (advanced)“ will show you the format function). Go ahead installing windows on this drive. ? 4.?? When windows finished installing and you reached your desktop, put in the iATKOS DVD again and shut down windows. ? 5.?? Change your graphic device to UMA graphic again in your BIOS (F2 while booting) if you changed it to switchable graphics before and exit saving changes. ? 6.?? Boot from the DVD (F12 while booting) and boot OS X (not the installer) in the chameleon boot screen with no startup options. ? 7.?? When you reached Finder (desktop in OS X), reinstall the newest version of Chimera via MB{censored}. ? 8.?? Voilà, you have a dual boot OS X and Windows laptop. If you dislike windows of course you can do the same with other operation systems (e.g. Ubuntu) too, you can also make a triple boot Hackintosh and so on. ? 9.?? Now shut down OS X and boot into windows to set it up. Install the drivers which you get here. The drivers you need are the following (all downloadable in the link I just gave you): ? ·????? Chipset ·????? Audio ·????? Bluetooth ·????? Camera ·????? Card Reader ·????? Ethernet ·????? Intel Management Engine Interface ·????? Intel Rapid Storage ·????? Touchpad ·????? USB 3.0 ·????? Intel HD (integrated graphics) ·????? Wireless LAN ·????? NVIDIA GeForce (graphics card) (get this here) ·????? Lenovo Energy Management ? Problem: Speakers don’t work. ? Answer: Go to System preferences --> Sound --> set the right output (for me it was: Speaker (Analog); I recommend not changing the VoodooHDA settings if you don’t know what you’re doing) ? Problem: My Windows clock is always different from my OS X one. ? Answer: Simple solution here ? Thank you for checking out my guide, I hope it was a little bit helpful and please give feedback. I’m working hard to keep this topic updated? ? Regards, ? Lexstar ? Notes: ? - for Mavericks you can turn on Switchable Graphics in BIOS now (after the installation), very helpful if you use Dual Boot with Windows ? Edits: ? 07.11.13, 9:35 PM: added bluetooth kext for OS X mavericks! (thanks Dinesh) 17.11.13, 1:40 PM: updated bluetooth kext again, configuration was wrong that is why it caused kernel panics Kexts.zip kexts4mavericks.zip
