  11. Hello, It makes now one week I try to hackintosh my new Acer Aspire V5-571G. It is not fully working, but at least, it starts. I tried to disable Nvidia Optimus (so the GeForce GT620M) by patching DSDT but I don't really know if is has worked.. Please some of you can take a look at my DSDT? I am not really an expert and tried to do my best, but I'm not sure I did right, I would like to know where I'm wrong! I also had some sleep issues and I am not able to use brightness controls.. Thanks for your help!
  12. Hello all, I'm so glad I found this forum as it appears there is a lot of knowledge to be shared. I've recently installed Lion 10.7.4 on my Acer AO756-2623 but there are a few things that still need to be worked out before I would say it's perfect. I had to remove three kexts initially or it wouldn't boot and the keyboard/mouse would not function. AppleIntelSNBGraphicsFB.kext AppleIntelSNBVA.bundle VoodooPS2Controller.kext Here's what isn't working that I'd like to get fixed: Graphics card: I know the Intel HD2000 isn't fully supported, but I'd at least like to get it to boot automatically at the correct resolution, for now I have to manually type "Graphics Mode"="1366x768x32" at every boot. Sound: No sound at all. I tried using the VoodooHDA.kext (2.7.3) as recommended by another user with this netbook, and sound worked. However, every reboot would crank up the mic input and I'd have severe feedback issues until it was either muted or lowered in the system preferences panel. Obviously this isn't ideal TouchPad: From what I can tell, it's a Synaptics 8.1 touchpad. Two finger scroll and tap-to-click both work natively. However, when enabling dragging, the tap-to-click gets buggy, a tap will hold the click for a few seconds before releasing, making any menial task extremely annoying. The actual "click" doesn't work and I would like that to work, also mult-touch gestures would be nice as well (three fingers etc.). Display: I can't lower the brightness, it's stuck on high and is very eye fatiguing. Also, the screen wont turn off after the elapsed time I set. App Store: I can sign into iTunes using my credentials, but not the App Store (unknown error has occurred). Battery info: It isn't displayed in the menu bar, and when checking the box it holds for a few seconds than un-checks it self. Internet: Ethernet doesn't work nor does WiFi so I'm tethering to my phone for now, but I have a Broadcom 1510 en route to fix that issue. Suspend: It doesn't work I'm sure this is a lot to ask of the community but I'd really appreciate any help I can receive. Also, this is my first dabble into OSX as a lifelong Windows user, so please be as descriptive as you can be (or at least link me to a comprehensive guide) if you offer me any suggestions. Thanks everyone!
  13. First post here but i've been around these forums for a while soaking up all the excellent info.. (or try my hardest at least). but there comes i time and i hate to say it where i need help… so here goes. Specs In Sig: I have mountain lion installed via the iAtkos ml2 dmg using and external hard drive. Flags To Get To Installer: -v PCIRootUID=0 USBBusFix=Yes GraphicsEnabler=Yes Had to install network kext after first boot and audio which is what im still trying to do, amongst a few other things... Ill be doing a full write up after its complete but for now ill start with my first obstacle. The Sound: OK first the Tech Details: ALC888s ( Im 90% Sure ) Realtek Intel High Definition Audio (293e:8086) I've tried every appleHDA kext even tried editing them.. no success at all… Even DSDT (Attached)… This bit confuses me a little at the moment not sure if I've done it right. I'm using VoodooHDA 2.8.2 r86 32_64bit (attached kext) at the moment and inputs outputs work, not sure on HDMI though, but there is a major Larsen Effect that i can't get rid of… can anyone shed any light on my situation?? would be greatly appreciated dsdt and kext.zip codec_dump.txt

  16. Installation of Mac OS Snow Leopard 10.6.6 on a Laptop ACER Aspire 5810TZ You can find here a description of what I did to install Snow Leopard on a Laptop ACER Aspire 5810TZ, in case it could help somebody in a similar situation. PE_ID=1353 Good to have before install - considering we have to format the hard drive in GUID Apple Format, all data on the HD will be lost. So it is better to have an extra SATA 2.5" HD, or at least make a backup. I bought this one NCIX.com - Buy Seagate Momentus 7200.4 500GB 2.5IN SATA 7200RPM 16MB Notebook Hard Drive OEM - Seagate - ST9500420AS - in Canada ... re=Seagate Don't buy a HD with the GForce chip, they are said to be not compatible with Mac OS. Here is a summary of the steps, the details can be found in some guides. 1 - install the new HD, even not formatted, inside the Laptop 2 - boot on iB{censored} bootable DVD 3 - when on dual boot screen, eject the iB{censored} DVD and insert Snow Leopard DVD, 4 - press F5, select Snow Leopard DVD press ENTER 5 - In DiskUtility format the HD in GUID Format, and create at least two partitions : one for Mac (will the primary and active) one for Win 7 6 - install Snow Leopard, at the end it will restart, 7 - boot on Win7 DVD and install Win7, when finished, all features of the laptop should be working under Win7: USB, and network. 8 – now you can copy with Win7 on Win7 partition the files necessary for Snow Leopard: Upgrade 10.6.6, MB{censored}, Drivers, etc (they will be readable under Snow Leopard) 9 - restart and boot on iB{censored} DVD, on Dual boot select Snow Leopard, 10 - you should be able to access in readonly the Win7 Partition, from Snow Leopard. Copy the files to the Snow Leopard partition. 11 - install Upgrade 10.6.6, don’t restart, 12 - install MB{censored}: EasyInstall (No DSDT), KextHelper Utility, ShowAllFiles Utility, and don’t worry about the other drivers, do not restart yet 13 - here is a tricky part: the drivers from MB{censored} did not work for me. So I found a way to extract the drivers from the iB{censored} DVD which work good. Execute the application ShowAllFiles to see the hidden files. Click on iB{censored} DVD/Extra/Preboot.dmg/Extra. Inside, copy the file Extensions.mkext from this DVD to /Extra to the SnowLeopard partition. Then open this Extensions.mkext with KextHelper Utility. It will extract the content to a directory. Copy the result of this new directory inside /Extra. Rename it /Extra/Extensions. Run again KextHelper Utility so it can set permission. 14 - in /Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist add the lines <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1366x768x32</string> <key>Instant Menu</key> <string>Yes</string> 15 - eject iB{censored} DVD, restart, 16 - you should be able to restart properly on Snow Leopard partition, 17 - install the other drivers IOUSBFamily_USB3_Anv, AppleIntelGMAX3100FB in /Extra/Extensions, rather than /System/Library/Extensions (see note below) 18 - install the USB Wireless adapter and its driver. Here are some tips I found : • Drivers on MacOs are located in /Extra/Extensions and /System/Library/Extensions • When testing a new driver, it is a good idea to place it in /Extra/Extensions, because if this driver creates a system panic, you will be able to boot again with the iB{censored} DVD. Instead if you place it in /System/Library/Extensions and then got a system panic at boot time, the only solution is to install Snow Leopard again all over again. • We have to be cautious of doing a clean shutdown of Mac OS so that the syncing of the disk are well done. Otherwise the Snow Leopard partition might get errors, that might not be repaired. In this case we have to reinstall Snow Leopard from scratch. • In case you have to install again Snow Leopard, you will be able to keep the Win7 install intact, Do this, with Disk Utility, delete the Snow Leopard partition, and create it again. • It would be nice to be able to write on the Win7 partition, from Snow Leopard. But some forum says that the existing solutions are buggy, and can lead to not be able start Win7 again. So I dropped it, and use a USB Stick to transfert to Win7 • If Snow Leopard goes into sleep, it cannot be awaken. So I configured it to never sleep in the System Preferences Here is are the problem I had: • First I tried different versions of i*D*e*n*e*B : did not work, • USB : I had the error message: EHCI unable to table control of BIOS, it comes from the BIOS configuration USB:Legacy, on this Laptop it is not possible to change this BIOS parameter. So the only way is to install the IOUSBFamily_USB3_Anv driver - I could not find the driver for the display chip GMA 4500, but this one AppleIntelGMAX3100FB is the closest to what we can get. At least I have been able to change the 1024x768 resolution, and get the native resolution of the screen 1366x768 This Snow Leopard solution cost me less that $200: (Hard Drive, Snow Leopard DVD, USB Wireless Adapter), for a 15,3" screen laptop Dual Boot Win7 / Snow Leopard 10.6.6. For everybody who has this very laptop, ACER Aspire 5810TZ, Snow Leopard is working very fine, and it is worth trying.

  19. Hello everyone, After lots of tinkering, searching, and long nights, I've hunted and narrowed down the necessary steps to successfully install Mac OS X Snow Leopard on the Acer Aspire X3400 PC. This method has been tested with my specific model (which can be found in my signature), although it can work with similar models with a couple modifications. Before you begin, you'll need: A retail Snow Leopard .dmg A flash drive with at least 8 GB of space A working Mac (whether it be another Hackintosh or a Virtual Machine) A nawcom modCD Any Linux LiveCD Also, before you begin, make sure you have these files on a CD or DVD: IOUSBFamily.kext Kext Utility Chameleon Bootloader /Extra folder Legacy Kernel for OS X 10.6.0 OS X Driver for Ralink RT3090 The Chameleon Bootloader, /Extra folder, and the Legacy Kernel can be found in the linked guide below. 1. Follow this guide: http://philtesone.com/hackintosh/ Note: If your Acer PC is instantly rebooting at or after the "DSMOS has Arrived" stage, and you recently installed a graphics card in the PCI-E x16 slot, I've found it to be extremely helpful to simply remove it while booting the installer. However, if you have a graphics card that does work with the installer, please report back here and post your graphics card model, just so we can save some users some headache. 2. When you're done following his guide, don't boot from the flash drive. Boot from your nawcom modCD with the following parameters: arch=i386 -force643. When you're inside OS X successfully, swap your modCD with the CD with all your files in it. 4. Copy the /Extra folder to the root of your hard drive, and install Chameleon. 4a. Delete the dsdt.aml file within /Extra, because for our motherboard's sakes, we don't need it. 4b. Open up the com.apple.Boot.plist inside /Extra and edit the under Kernel Flags with the same parameters you used to boot up, minus the "-v" parameter. 4c. If you don't want to see the Chameleon boot screen, you can add the following code to boot straight into the Apple logo: Quiet Boot Yes 5. Install the legacy_kernel from Phil Tesone's website. 6. Install the IOUSBFamily.kext so you can ditch the CD, and the AppleAzaliaAudio.kext located in /Extra/system for sound. You can do this by copying both to /System/Library/Extensions. Shortly after you do, though, there will be an error message saying that they were not installed correctly, and thus cannot be used. Do not fret, we're about to fix that. Enter the following code into the Terminal: cd /System/Library sudo chmod -R 755 Extensions sudo chown -R root:wheel Extensions sudo touch ExtensionsIf Extensions.mkext and Extensions.kextcache don't exist, that's fine. Move on to the next step. 7. Now, boot into your Linux LiveCD. Connect to wifi and download this. 8. Once downloaded, write it to your Snow Leopard partition using this: sudo dd if=boot1h of=/dev/sda2 bs=4096FYI, replace "boot1h" with wherever you saved it. When you've typed "sudo dd if=", you should be able to drag and drop your file into the Terminal. 9. You should now be able to ditch the modCD and boot straight from your hard drive. 10. Install the Ralink Wireless Utility you should have grabbed from the Materials section. Personally, I had it on the data CD that I created when I started the installation process, but since USB should now be functional at this point, you can transfer the utility from either USB or CD. After you have wifi working, update to the latest version of Snow Leopard by grabbing this. Don't restart when it tells you to, because you have to first install this. After the 10.6.8 update, your "About Mac" should show your AMD Athlon II X4 645 as an Intel Core i5 and it should also show your RAM. At this point, your Mac App Store may not be letting you sign in, so here's how to fix it: 1. Create a new location in your network preferences by going to System Preferences > Network. 2. Remove all network interfaces by selecting them and clicking the minus button. 3. Delete /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist 4. Reboot your Hackintosh and add back Ethernet and Ethernet Adapter (en1) to your network preferences. After following this guide, you should have a relatively functioning Hackintosh with the following limitations: No QE/CI, which would majorly hinder applications like iWork, iLife, and Preview. Flash content like Youtube is also affected. No front I/O panel (Media Expansion Bay) No Boot Camp To remedy the QE/CI issue, you'll need to purchase a separate video card. I personally picked the ATI Radeon HD 5450, but you can take your pick after reading through this and watching this video. Like reviewerashley said, make sure you buy a low profile card when shopping for one. Anything other than that will not fit in the small space that the PCI-E x16 slot is allocated.

  25. Okay guys, So Leopard is running pretty stable on my Acer Aspire 5336. There is only one more thing left to do and that is get my Acer Crystal Eye Webcam to work. It is detected in system profiler under USB devices despite the fact that is internally built into my laptop and no usb device is connected. Which it could be connected via usb internally? I don't know too much about hardware and what not, so this one is a tough one. OSX does detect it as I said previously, but when I visit sites like Omegle that require a webcam, it does not let me click "Allow" under the box to verify my webcam. Also, Photobooth will not open because it says my graphics card is not supported. Is there anyway I can get at least omegle or skype working with my webcam/ I tried kexts but no avail. I really have no other options than to result to this post. Thanks in advance!
