This is for those who have Chameleon boot loader and haswell kernel and wants to update (2015_003 Security Update). MD5 (Vanilla kernel) = d15c234bcc3421705788f07d9f811f15 MD5 (10.10.2 with 2015_003 update kernel haswell patched) = add7fdfc4d061f237bd84f1eb94713b4 MD5 (10.10.2 kernel haswell patched) = cc46457172315aea68d8e1f957d2746c You just have to boot U{censored} and copy the kernel in /System/Library/Kernels/kernel.
  2. Hello, good people of OSx68.net! ? ? Note: I apologize if there's some obvious post somewhere I've overlooked, but I've been googling similar issues and solutions for the past 24 hours without luck. ? ? I've been enjoying the wonders of Hackintoshing for over half a year now, running Mountain Lion on my ASUS P5Q-E based system (more specs at the end). I've been careful about not installing system updates until seeing updated kexts and posts from more seasoned Hackintoshers than myself. Upon eventually updating, the boot screen would hang, due to kext issues. Booting up on the drive through U{censored}, however, was possible, and I could reinstall my kexts again. ? This time around, I've not been so lucky. It seems that the recent security update (late February, I think) to Mountain Lion is a bit more aggressive, and after installing it, I am completely unable to boot up on my drive. If I use the verbose boot flag -v, it looks like some kexts fail to load (IO-something-AHCI-something and a few others), and at some point, the boot process just hangs around a SIGKILL of some (seemingly) arbitrary process - often com.apple.quicklook-something. Note that the boot process hangs regardless of the -x flag. ? So my questions are the following: Can I install this security update somehow without bricking my setup? Note that the update works a little differently than other updates, in that it requires a restart, and upon clicking Restart, all I'm left with is a progress bar and no other "break" before the restart, which leads me to thinking that there's no way to update kexts pre-restart, because the update will just overwrite them during this screen anyway. I may be wrong though? Is there an easy way to prevent this situation, where I have to reinstall everything over again, in the future? I'm thinking periodic snapshots of my partition/drive, but how would I restore these images, if I can't boot into OS X in any way??
