  1. I got 10.6.3 up and running on my first hackintosh. The first time I tried to install 10.6.8 I got a message I needed 10.6.7 installed. I found all of the Snow Leopard updates thru wikipedia which had links back to Apple for 10..4 thru 10.6.8 v1.1. I installed 10.6.4 and it ran swimmingly. As I was getting ready to fix the boot0 error a message pooped up saying the 10.6.8 upgrade was available. I started the install process and it apparently it was successful. Now the kicker. When I boot now it gets to the Apple logo and hangs. I've tried using and not using PCIRootUID=1 and going into safe mode. What's keeping it from starting?
  2. I used NAWCOM BootCD with boot: mach_kernel to get my retail Snow Leopard disc to begin its thing. It got as far as "Refusing new kext com.apple.lokit.IOUSBFamily, v3.9.6: already have loaded v6.6.6.". Then it hung at "com_lnx2mac_RealtekRTL81xx: Ethernet addres 00:1f:c6:04:74:b0". I've attached a photo of what was on the screen. Did I forget something? HP Pavilion A6400f Intel E2200 CPU 8 GB RAM ASUS IPIBL-LB mobo
  3. I have recently installed OS X Mavericks 10.9.3 on my computer, and everything works great while I'm INSIDE the OS using it. But when it comes to booting up, the screen keeps getting stuck at the grey apple logo screen, with the loading circle infinitely looping until I reboot, only to get the same results over and over. Using verbose mode revealed that the boot process gets stuck at the line "SMC : Successfully Initialized" as shown in the screenshot followed by one or two lines of uninterpretable garbage, until I reboot.? So far I have tried infinite combinations of kernel flags, but all give the same results (except -x, which boots up OS X but then there's no graphics kext enabled). I tried changing the system definition from "Mac pro 6,1" to 5,1 and even 3,1. But still the same results.??Also as an exception, the OS boots successfully if I use "UseKernelCache=No" flag, but then the OS behaves very abnormally and becomes extremely slow, so I avoid that. Even tried deleting and rebuilding kernel cache but problem still persists.?Sometimes with some real good luck it boots succesfully, but that's pretty rare and obviously unreliable.?Can somebody please help me on this one? This is real confusing. ?Thanks System Specs :? X-Pro 450W PSU Galaxy Geforce GT 520 1GB Gigabyte GA-G41 Combo? 4. Hello I recently decided to install OS X Mavericks primarily for app development purposes so that I don't have to use VMWare under Windows 7. The set-up I have currently involves a triple-boot with Windows 7, OS X and Ubuntu. OS X is on a separate hard disk by itself so I'm pretty sure there aren't any disk-related problems arising from the boot configuration. ? I'm using a laptop with Intel 7 Series Chipset/C216, 32 GB RAM, i7 3740QM, NVIDIA Optimus with Intel HD Graphics 4000 and NVIDIA GeForce GTX670MX. Bluetooth seems to be able to work under OS X, although the intel centrino 6235 wireless is unlikely to work (I have looked at iwidarwin but currently I am trying to get the system to boot properly) ? I used myHack to create a bootable USB to install OS X, and after a bit of fiddling found that it required safe mode with GraphicsEnabler=no to boot correctly. That wasn't really a problem because it was just the installer (or so I thought). When I booted up the newly installed OS X using the USB as a boot loader (my BIOS doesn't support GPT partitions), again I found that OS X would only properly boot in safe mode (without safe mode it would hang at the boot logo with spinning gear and beach ball). I did a couple of cleanup tasks to try to get it to boot normally without the USB which included converting the disk from GPT to MBR and installing the Chameleon boot loader and installing ethernet and system kexts with MB{censored}. I managed to get ethernet drivers to work and it is now possible to boot directly from my hard disk into OS X (no USB required). The graphics under OS X are stuck with using the Chameleon boot loader's VESA 64MB intel graphics (safe mode doesn't load intel HD drivers) ? I'm not using any custom DSDT (just left the default one there although I suspect myHack probably modified it to work properly) and just using standard multi beast kexts. ? Unfortunately I still couldn't boot normally under OS X after cleaning out kexts (nvidia, intel graphics, etc) so I did a little bit of poking around in the logs to find what was causing this issue, and found that in a normal boot (not safe mode), the logonwindow fails to start due to a segmentation fault. (see logs below). I then disabled virtual memory paging with "sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.dynamic_pager.plist"?to see if I could get any different results, but it still failed to start with "bad instruction". The logon window launch daemon and about 4 other tasks all?seem to fail in a similar way. I've already ruled out corruption as a possibility because the same logon window app loads?perfectly in safe mode. ? What I would like to know is: What drivers could be causing segmentation faults/errors that are not loaded in safe mode that stop the logon window from opening in non-safe mode? What exactly is the difference between safe mode and normal booting in terms of kexts, system daemons and other system processes being loaded? (especially ones that could cause segmentation faults/possible memory corruption)Is there any way I could modify/patch drivers or the logon window so that it will start? Is it actually worth spending time to get OS X to boot with this issue?Any suggestions would be very much appreciated, and I would really like to get this to work (saves me from having to use VMWare for app development). 9. Hi there, I had been trying to install iATKOS v7 for my HP laptop. I must say that I've made it pretty far just Googling and what not, but now I need true help. :\ In case you were wondering, I am using another laptop to look up solutions and for posting this thread. Now, I'll try and explain the steps that I took from the beginning... I first of all formated and created two partitions, both HFS(?)+, one 100GB and the other 350GB using GParted. After that, I began booting from iATKOS v7's iso disc using "-v" param, and immediately, I was greeted by a frozen screen with "IOAPIC: Version 0x21 Vectors 0:23". On Google, I found only one fix, it stated that I had to disable "USB Legacy Mode" from BIOS settings, wait until the disc stopped spinning, and plug in a USB flash drive and unplug it before restart after installation, didn't work for me. In one of the comments, I read about somebody trying out some other boot parameters before learning about the USB trick, it was to type "io=0x21 -s -f" and that his booting will go further than before, but get stuck and freeze at Root device is mounted read-only If you want to make modifications to files: /sbin/fsck -fy /sbin/mount -uw / If you want to boot the system: exit -sh-3.2# Same thing happened to me, except my screen wasn't frozen. So I followed the steps, and entered the two given commands, "/sbin/fsck -fy" and "/sbin/mount -uw /," and bam, a while later, I was on iATKOS OSx86's installation screen. These are the settings I chose (most of these are based off the device names, I had Ubuntu on before this and pulled out the device names and IDs through the Terminal): iATKOS v7 Main System Bootloader > Chameleon v2 X86 Patches > /Extra directory X86 Patches > DSDT X86 Patches > Decrypters > AppleDecrypt X86 Patches > Disabler Drivers > VGA > ATI > ATI HD Drivers > System > SATA/IDE > ATI SATA/IDE Drivers > System > CardBus Driver Drivers > System > USB Drivers > System > Sound > Voodoo HDA Driver Drivers > Network > Wired > Realtek > Realtek RTL8139 Drivers > Network > Wireless > Ralink > Ralink RT2860 PCI Post-Install Actions Any package branch not mentioned above was not installed. After the installation, I let the computer restart, and boot itself from the HDD. When Chameleon first shows up, I press "any key" for the startup options, then, with my correct partition selected, I type "-v" and press the Enter key, and after not too long, I get stuck at "IOAPIC: Version 0x21 Vectors 64:87" seem familiar? Like the last time I had an "IOAPIC" error, I restart my system, and this time, I use the parameters "io=0x21 -s -f", I yet again, make it a lot farther this time, but this time, my installation freezes at "config(6b0d4f0): terminating". (I also tried booting with "io=0x21" alone, but I still from at the "IOAPIC" line). I feel like I've made it so far, just by collecting information from here and there, and I really don't have the heart to go back to Windows after coming so far with OSx86, any help will be great... Thanks, Mannie
  10. Oky guys, So after my install of iPC 10.5.6 SL Distro, I found out that If i leave my system inactive for more than 5 minutes, my OSX will freeze which forces me to reboot... My graphics card is not really supported. (intel 4500M) But i got my resolution to work good on my Panasonic LCD. If i click "sleep" the system also freezes. Its really annoying and I'd appreciate anyones knowledge as to helping me fix this! I do not want to install any kexts. Ive tried everything. If you know another simple way to do this, i'd be happy to listen! Thanks guys!
