  1. ? Most of us are counting the time to have in hands the final release of OS X Yosemite, which will bring significant changes in its appearance and stability. ? ? Now, the most important thing before you install and use the new OS X, is you check if your current Hack will be compatible with OS X Yosemite without major issues, and prevent some possible extress. ? Basic. Well, if you currently use OS X Mavericks, it's likely that you can use the Yosemite. But not everything is perfect. Something you should be aware of, is the fact that some components like Video, WiFi, USB kexts, or for port activation of your graphic card like HDMI, VGA or DVI. In the most of cases, we only use HDMI, which requires a patch at?AppleIntelFramebufferCapri kext,?you can use without issues Mavericks' kexts in Yosemite, but it may happen, just as happened to me, some video crashes and artifacts at your display. What you can do now is to keep a backup of the used methods and their respective patches at a Pendrive, or store it at your cloud account using DropBox, iCloud etc... Average. Always keep a backup of your working kexts and/or plugins. Backup your DSDT, SSDT and any other custom ACPI table you have. If you use Chameleon, also make sure you have a backup of the Extra folder with its contents, like org.chameleon.Boot.plist and FileNVRAM. Now, for those who uses Clover in UEFI mode, will be pretty easy. As Clover uses the EFI partition to store its files and this partition is independent from the partition where OS X is installed, if you do not re-partition your drive, you have nothing to worry about. So, be careful while installing OS X 10.10. Never change the partition layout of your HDD, for example, change it from GPT to MBR, by doing this your EFI partition will be deleted. Advanced. If you are unsure about something, or did not like Yosemite and wants to return to the Mavericks, make a full backup of OS X. Do not think that Hack things are like real Macs, and that at any issue you can use Time Machine to revert things back. Use tools that will fit your needs and save you time. An excellent tool is the CCC (Carbon Copy Cloner - 30 days of use) or SuperDuper which is free. ? ? The advantage of CCC is that you can save the bootloader, then, just restore it to an external HDD/Pendrive and install it normally. SuperDuper only backup OS X and not the bootloader. But this is not a problem, because onceOS X was restored, download and install the Bootloader does not take 3 minutes. Now, one tip that will allow you a quality support:?Never use methods from other forums, specially, those who we don’t give support, as Tonymac, Niresh and others. Understand that we don’t hate them, but think logically: If you like to use their tools, the best thing would not ask for support in their forums? And vice-versa with respect to us. Another tip that can help you a lot, always be patient. Look, we all use a new OS X, where the problems will probably be solved differently. So, don’t expect the developers or Staff members use a magic wand to fix the problems, they also need to study new ways, and when they are available, we put in the best way for you. Well this are the tips that I bring to you. And I await with much anxiety the next Keynote.
  2. Hello Guys. ? I bring a pretty easy guide that can be useful for Mac users and Hack users. ? Mac/Hack. ? Hold down??and??and press? ? Your Mac captures the entire screen and saves it as a file on the desktop. The file name will look like:? ? ? ? Mac/Hack. ? Hold down??and??and press? ? Use your mouse to draw a rectangle in order to specify what to capture – or press the spacebar and then click on something (e.g. a window) to capture it. Your Mac then saves it as a file on the desktop. The file name will look like: ? I don’t like keyboard shortcuts. How can I take a screenshot using Preview? ? ? How can I have my screenshots in other file formats than PNG? (see previous question) ? Click in File > Export... ? Bonus: Cmd in Hackintosh?could be Windows or Ctrl ? How to change that? ? Open System Preferences > Keyboard > Modifier Keys... and change. ? ?
  3. Hi guys. I'm new here on this Forum, so if the Thread is not in the right sektion, please movit in the right sektion. ( Sorry for my bad English, i'm from Switzerland!) I will install on my Laptop (Presario CQ56) Lion. But i don't have the right patches inside the DVD, so i can boot up to install Lion. Iv tried with Snow Leopard often and it fails ( One times it makes "ping" Installation finished, but no Wi-fi driver, LAN Driver and Sounddriver) So, is that possible or i must install Snow Leopard? If someone can me explain Step4Step how to install Lion on my Laptop, i'm very grateful for the Guide and help! Greets Stefan
  4. #1. Tested on Lion Retail 10.7.2 I just try re-attach my ATI HD 4350 , but i think i'm too lazy to use Kexts such as ATY_Init.kext, Patch Kexts, in my case, you will all know it as 4350Fix2.kext well, since chimera has built in mode that we can use, i just found out how to make this card working without using any kext. Thanks to Chimera Developer i guess... so here's how to make it. Pre-beginning : based on help in chimera or chameleon with ? command on boot prompt : Press Enter to start up Darwin/x86 with no options, or you can: Type -v and press Enter to start up with diagnostic messages Type ? and press Enter to learn about advanced startup options boot: The boot: prompt waits for you to type advanced startup options. If you don't type anything, the computer continues starting up normally. It uses the kernel and configuration files on the startup device, which it also uses as the root device. Advanced startup options use the following syntax: ===cut=== GraphicsEnabler=Yes|No Automatic device-properties generation for gfx cards. AtiConfig=<cardcfg> Use a different card config, e.g. AtiConfig=Megalodon. AtiPorts=<value> Specify the number of ports, e.g. AtiPorts=2. UseAtiROM=Yes|No Use an alternate Ati ROM image ===cut=== What do you need : Chimera *still not testing it with latest chameleon, may be you guys can try it out. modify org.chameleon.Boot.plist *it lays on /Extra/ folder by default. Advantages : [*]no need patched kext [*]Keep system as clean as possible [*]You all can use 32/64 bit mode, since you were using original unmodified kexts. [*]No need input your PCI ID e.g.: 954f into corresponding kexts. which usually do the trick for us. [*]No need to use Graphics Enabler to Yes , although, if you use GE=Yes, it's still working [*]All ports is working without a doubt (VGA/DVI/HDMI) [*]No more has to use DVI port, you can freely choose what port without limitation. Okay, after you installed Chimera, now let's make it work by modifying your custom boot.plist . here's what you need to input into your plist <key>AtiConfig</key> <string>Motmot</string> or <string>Gliff</string> *use and pick one of them , neither Motmot or Gliff <key>AtiPorts</key> <string>1</string> optional : <key>UseAtiROM</key> <string>Yes</string> so, the result, i will use my own bootplist to be an example, don't just copy paste my setting, because it depends on your hardware and different hardware may not work. sample : <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>AtiConfig</key> <string>Gliff</string> <key>AtiPorts</key> <string>1</string> <key>CSTUsingSystemIO</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>DSDT</key> <string>/Extra/DSDT.aml</string> <key>EnableC2State</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>EthernetBuiltIn</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>GUI</key> <string>No</string> <key>GenerateCStates</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>GeneratePStates</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1280x800x32</string> <key>Kernel</key> <string>mach_kernel</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>-v npci=0x2000 darkwake=0</string> <key>Legacy Logo</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>SMBIOS</key> <string>/Extra/SMBios.plist</string> <key>SystemType</key> <string>3</string> <key>Theme</key> <string></string> <key>Timeout</key> <string>1</string> <key>UseAtiROM</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>VBIOS</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>arch</key> <string>i386</string> </dict> </plist> I put that <key>UseAtiROM</key>as an optional, because when i testing it , without put that flag i still can make my card working, i don't know if it's can make another ATI/AMD Graphics card will working, well perhaps all you can try it using this simpler method. without finding proper patched kext. well, in kernel message while booting, it's shows error when loading ATIRadeonX2000, but still, it's loaded though ariks-Mac-Pro:~ arik$ sudo dmesg | grep ATI Kext com.apple.ATIRadeonX2000 - library kext com.apple.iokit.IOGraphicsFamily not found. Can't load kext com.apple.ATIRadeonX2000 - failed to resolve library dependencies. Kext com.apple.ATIRadeonX2000 failed to load (0xdc00800e). Failed to load kext com.apple.ATIRadeonX2000 (error 0xdc00800e). Kext com.apple.driver.AppleHDAController - library kext com.apple.iokit.IOGraphicsFamily not found.Couldn't alloc class "ATIRadeonX2000" well, at least the card is working now . so far i still try it with lion, will do trial on Snow Leopard soon. that's why i name this thread as #1 Preview: note: to test it, i'm not using kernel cache so it would be scanning all drivers first while booting, you may try using kextcache if you want. may be, you can also try it using chameleon edition not chimera, i personally only testing it with chimera.

  6. Hi, I am new to the whole hackintosh thing. I only became interested in it today when I found out my laptop might be supported. Can anybody provide me with material to determine: 1. if my laptop (in my sig) is supported 2. How to do it for my particular setup Frankly, its hard for me to figure out these things when all this lingo that I have never heard before keeps getting thrown around. Guides dont need to be super simple or anything I just need to determine which ones will apply to me. Thanks in advanced!
  7. Connect a harddisk to a working OS X computer Install Mac OS X 10.5.6 on this harddisk (Use Universal OSx86 Installer for example) Install Mac OS X 10.5.7 update on this harddisk Install Natit.pkg (if you've got an Radeon HD 4870 card) Run "RUN-PATCH_INSTALLER" from the modified X58_Mobo_Patch_Installer Select the correct harddisk Follow these steps: 2,3,5,6,7 Reboot with the new harddisk! You now have Mac OS X 10.5.7 running with native ICH10 support and vanilla kernel!
