  1. Hey friends! I wanted to buy a MacBook Air because of the battery life but the non-replaceable RAM made me hesitating since I may need more later. I already tried to install Lion one day on my current laptop but it failed (graphics were not working, GT 630M and HD 4000) and I decided to give up. Now, I think it would be a great idea to make one since the Aspire M5-481T is sold 500$ at The Source?and its warranty plan is sold 120$ for 3 years. Before buying this, I would like some help to make sure I could do it. CPU : Intel Core i5-3317U @ 1.7GHz (up to 2.6GHz) RAM : 6GB of RAM (can't find the brand, DDR3-1066) HD : 500GB (Western Digital) and 20GB SSD (can replace it for a 128GB I have) GC : Intel HD 4000 Sc.: Realtek (ALC269 probably...) LAN : Broadcom Gigabit & Acer Nplify (probably Atheros AR9287) BT : Atheros or Broadcom (according to the drivers) Tp.: Elantech or Synaptics (also according to them) Others : DVD±RW 8x ? Thanks in advance, William Bérubé ? Sources : Datasheet?Drivers?Guide [DE]
  2. Dear all, I have installed Mavericks on my laptop (Lenovo t431s) that uses an Intel i5-3437u (ivy bridge). After a lot of adjustments I got basically everything to work: hd4000, ps2 trackpad and keyboard, screen brightness control, audio, Bluetooth, battery monitor and finally power management using a patched AppleIntelCpuPowerManagement and an SSDT file generated using ssdtPRGen.sh. Now the question is: how can I control how osx uses the lower power states of my CPU? This processor runs on a 100Mhz bus with multiplier from 8 to 29, with a standard (non turbo) of x19. When on battery if I look at the current frequency using hwmonitor it stays almost always on the top of the range (normally at x27) and only very rarely (and quite randomly) it goes down to x8 (800 MHz) and this seems to waste quite a bit of energy. When using Windows (8.1) I get a similar behavior when selecting the "high performance" power plan, while if I chose balanced I immediately see the CPU spending most its time at x8 and going back up when there's something to process. The obvious thing to do was obviously to check under OSX whether there was any process very active for no reason but that doesn't seem to be the case: I'm on battery, the CPU is idle and I have no applications running in foreground or background.. but the lower p-states are not allowed to kick-in at my i5 spends most of its time at x27. Yet.. they are available really because even if infrequently... I do see the CPU getting down to x8 from time to time: it's almost like the OS failed to correctly interpret the fact that the machine is on battery and didn't bother about using lower states even if it technically could. I'm a bit new to OSX so I don't know exactly what to look at... let me know if you have any idea on how to fix this! Thanks, Sergio ? ps: smbios.plist is configured for MacBookPro8,1 (MacMini6 is ivy bridge but would cause a KP on my system) ?
  3. When ever I boot after MB{censored} I get a kernel panic so I run it in verboot and I get this message: ? ?WARNING: IOPlatformPluginUTil : getCPUIDInfo ; this is an unknown CPU model 0x3a ---power management may be incomplete or unsupported? I've read the reason is because Mac OS thinks its a sandy bridge processor however it is ivy bridge I have been unable to finding a solution And I can only boot with -x ?flag (safe mode)? I selected "appleintelcpupowermanagement" and "nullcpupowermanagement" in MB{censored} and it still wont boot. ? Here are my computer specs: Asrock Z77 Extreme4 Mobo i5 3570k 8gb Ram (2x4gb) XFX GTX 280 (I switch to the inbuilt HD 4000 as there is not way to use the 280 on a mac OS) HDD 320GB Windows HDD 320GB Windows (These two drives are in Raid) HDD 320GB Mac OS X (ACHI) HDD 3TB Storage Drive

All kexts and files needed to proper install and boot G780 with ivy bridge i7 (only for 17" 1600x900 - patched dsdt with dual link). Maybe will work for 15" too. Who knows.... Pre-install: update to latest bios 5ECN96WW, disable nvidia in bios (or you need to delete all NV* kexts from /S/L/E), Disable UEFI, select everything whats possible to Legacy mode 1. Create installer with myhack 3.2 beta 8 2. replace the Extra folder with this one. 3. Install all kexts from /Extra/Extensions to /S/L/E using kext wizard (yes you will have them duplicated but thats ok). Repair permissions and rebuild cache 4. Connect USB to port located on right side where the optical drive is. 5. No boot options needed (-f = if you did not rebuild the cache). Full resolution with QE/CI installer will appear. Install Mac OS 6. Reboot, boot from installer, selected installed disk and use "-x -f USBLegacyOff=Yes" 7. Copy Extra folder from installdisk to installed ML 8. install all kexts from /Extra/Extensions to /S/L/E and delete the /Extra/Extensions folder. Repair permissions, rebuild cache. 9. Boot and enjoy. Update to 10.8.5: Use Combo update, rollback AppleACPIPlatform from this file Not working: Wifi, FN Brightness, Nvidia, touchpad after wakeup PS: In case you don't have QE/CL try different efi string injection for the HD4000. If the USB disk wont appear in boot menu restart using CTRL+ALT+DEL. This laptop does POST boot so fast that my USB HDD won't make it at first time after turning on using power button.

Complete /Extra folder with patched DSDT with Dual link support (1600x900), SSDT, SMBIOS and org.chameleon.boot.plist. DSDT extracted from latest bios 5ECN96WW Of course additional kexts are needed to proper boot (AppleACPIPlatform etc.) otherwise only safe mode works.
  6. ok so for the most part this has been str8 forward and thanks to all that helped me so far. Im at the point of MB{censored} install and i dont see the always cited System Utilities or other options that everyone else has on their MB{censored} settings/success pictures... i have tried with just USer DSDT and that didnt work. and i always have to do another install because it just hangs after I try to do any MB{censored} settings. Anyone with a successful ML install with this mobo processor that could point me in the right direction would be appreciated. doug

  8. Hi guys. I bought a new computer recently and I've been wondering if i could install Lion on this setup? I did some research and apparently everything is supported except my mobo. Will the U{censored}+MB{censored} method work well for me? I found a custom DSDT in the download section but there's no description nor useful comments so I'm a bit afraid to use it. DOes anyone here have the same board and could help me? I have my USB stick prepared, but I'm not trying to install anything yet because I don't want to mess anything up. Any suggestions what should I do? Motherboard: Asrock Z77 Extreme4 Processor: i5 3570k @ 3.40GHz Graphics: MSI R7870 TwinFrozr III RAM: Corsair 2x4GB DDR3 1600MHz HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200 rpm Sata/600 PSU: XFX Core 550W PS I know my English isn't very good as it isn't my native language but I hope you'll understand it
  9. Hey, Background I have a studio where I've got a 7.1 room where I do film sound design and track laying. I work on pro tools 9 so I needed a system that can run Snow Leopard and my Pro tools HD3 PCI cards. I was limited to only a few motherboards as I needed native PCI slots as bridged slots in more advanced motherboards dont work with the PCI cards. Configuration Core i7 3770K Ivy 3.4GHz Gigabyte P75 D3 Mobo based on the B75 Chipset Palit GT 520 Graphics 16 GB DDR3 1600MHz memory Pro Tools HD3 with 192 IO Problem I have finally, after 5 days, been able to setup my system to work flawlessly with my hardware setup and get everything recognized. The only issue right now is the graphics card which is not being detected at all even with the regular NVidia kexts installed. Because of this I cant setup dual/triple display to complete my setup. Things I have tried I have a projector that I use for video output through pro tools which is connected via DVI and connecting that alone to my graphics card does'nt give out any signal. The HDMI port gives output but only at 1024x768 in a windowed mode. The VGA port works but also in just 1024x768. I need at least my projector (DVI) and one monitor (VGA/HDMI) to work to give me a working setup. So only one port works at a time and that too only HDMI/VGA and not DVI. Right now I have removed all graphics kexts from my system (NV*,ATI*,Ge*) so right now nothing is installed for graphics except the GraphicsEnabler=yes/PCIRoot=1 flag in the boot.plist and with it my system boots fine with no KP's. Please help me guys to setup this machine as I really need to get going with my work and its just taking too long a time to work right. I have the hardware that I have and I cant change anything major now. I am open to changing the GPU with a cheap alternative ti give me a working setup if its confirmed to work right. Help me!
