1. Hello, any and all people reading this post. (First time posting on the forums here...) ? I've pretty much got OS X Mavericks (10.9.4) working at it's best on my Dell Vostro 220, but one of the big issues I'm hanging on are the graphics. ? I have an ATI Radeon HD 4350 with 512MB of memory. With a modified ATI4600Controller.kext, I can get full resolution from VGA and DVI as well as 2D acceleration. So, I can navigate Launchpad and watch videos on YouTube (No sound, but that's an issue for another thread?[sOLVED]). However, if I try to load ANYTHING that uses OpenGL (be it a game or Unity3D), the system completely freezes except for the cursor. Nothing works after that, and I have to hold down the power button. ? I've reinstalled about three times because of this (and several other times just getting 2D acceleration), and I'm at my tipping point. I need the ability to render 3D graphics to do what I need to do with OS X. I won't go into the details as to why, but if anyone can help me with this problem, I would greatly appreciate it. ? Thanks in advance, even if my problem is deemed unsolvable.
2. On EVERY Hack I've built using an NVIDIA discrete graphics card, I get, 100% of the time, the dreaded freeze: ? • kernel: NVDA(OpenGL): Channel timeout! ? or Channel exception. ? 100% of the time! ? I've NEVER had ANY success solving this. In the countless searching I've done, all I get is maniacs who post their whole freaking logs and dumps, or tons of people who say, "Yeah, I have this same problem." ? I've upgraded, downgraded and disabled the CUDA kext, but none of those makes any difference. I added the device ID to the AGPM kext. No difference again. I've tried different boot flags but to no avail. It's not a RAM issue either, BTW. ? Anyone have a WORKING fix for this idiotic, eternal error? ? Here are the specs for this particular rig. ? ? TIA for any meaningful input.
3. I just finished making everything to work on my Hackintosh and decided I wanted to play some Minecraft, but upon logging in and updating minecraft etc. the graphics started glitching (Pic below) Any ideas on how to fix this? I would really like to play my game. (I'm guessing OpenGL might have something to do with this?)
4. i was having trouble with open gl in lion on gma965 but i got it working perfect. make sure you have not touched/modded original kexts in sys/lib/ext any intel graphics kext if so i suggest fresh install of lion and this solution here is a solution for anyone having trouble take the AppleIntelGMAX3100FB.kext from any snow leo install s/l/e and overwrite/install it on lion s/l/e use kext wizard. attached is mine from snowleo it worked for me so try it the original lion AppleIntelGMAX3100FB.kext. save it if you like but not necessary repair perm after with kext wizard reboot with boot flags: arch=i386 -v (so your 32bit) then should work perf accelerated graphics, dvd, perfect AppleIntelGMAX3100FB.kext.zip
5. Hi everyone! I just installed SL 10.6.8 using nawcom bootcd & kernel and retail 10.6.3. Updated it to 10.6.8. Everything works just fine, except video. I added GraphicsEnabler=yes flag and now I can change resolutions, dual monitor mode works and I definitely have hardware acceleration — menu bar is semi-transparent and so on. But I have problems running games (tried Half-Life 2 and Quake 3) and, for example, applying some filters in Photo Booth. Applications just crash. One more observation — OpenGL acceleration in Photoshop CS5 works really slow — I had to turn it off. My configuration is as follows: Athlon X4 3.0 GHz, Asus M4A785T-M, 4 Gb DDR3, Asus GeForce 210 512 Mb, two 19" 1280x1024 panels, SL 10.6.8 Settings applied: GraphicsEnabler=yes, legacy_kernel, -force64 (tried disabling it), arch=i386 and busratio=15 (fixes sound problems). Also tried installing nVidia official drivers. Any thoughts?
