  1. Hi guys, i'm new here, if this thread isn't in the right section please move it. ? Well, i'm not new to hackintosh but i'm facing a new problem and i don't wanna ruin things. Basicly Windows 7 installation delete Chamaleon boot loader at pc start, now i can access to Yosemite only using the USB (wich contain yosemite installation), I wanna install Chameleon bootloader back. ? this was the configuration before ruin things. Dual boot with Yosemite 10.10.0 and Windows 7 HP x64 ? actually like this ? ? ? Now with the USB boot it loads like this, with the USB being "Yosemite Zone" ? ? ? I ruined thing when for other reason I had to install Win7 again, so at installation part i didn't touched System partition (100 MB), delete only the partion with old Win and installed the new one while leaving OSX partition untouched. ? At the boot the PC just load directly Windows 7 without showing Chamaleon. ? The first time i tried to boot OSX with the USB the boot failed with screen errors, so next usb boot i insert "-x -f -v" and then the OSX booted fine. Turn off the pc tried the USB boot this time without any arguments just select OSX partition and it actually worked fine. ? How can I install back Chamaleon bootloader back without messing up thing while keeping both OSX and Windows partition selection at boot?? Tried with EasyBCD but it didn't work. Thanks! ? partition table is MBR
  2. Hi ? This is my notebook:??http://www.asus.com/...specifications/ Asus N56DP A10 4600M 2.3Ghz 4GB Ram AMD Radeon HD 7730M & AMD Radeon HD 7660G 500GB HDD USB 3.0 And a installed windows 7 on it. I used myHack 3.3.1 and Mountain Lion 10.8.3 and made a bootable USB. Every thing is ok and i can see installation with GraphicsEnabler=No flag. I want to install OS X?on a partition,?without losing any data?and without format whole Hard Disk and without installing windows 7 again. Now, i format a partition to HFS+ type. What should i do now?
  3. Hi i'm a complete noob to hackintoshing so please dumb down your answers as much as possible so i understand. (i have good?knowledge?of?computers though) ? I want to make a hackintosh on my amd pc through virtualbox but i've run into some problems, ? I've been using this tutorial here :http://randosity.wordpress.com/2010/06/21/running-mac-os-x-in-virtualbox/ but when i use my boot loader [Nawcoms OSX86 ModCD] i get an error after swapping and pressing enter to run the installation disc (i bought the retail snow leopard disc that i burned to an iso file) (picture attached) ? I HAVE enabled AMD-v in the BIOS ? My pc specs are in some of the pictures attached ? I haven't bothered posting on the virtualbox forums because i will only get directed to this:?https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=31104 ? One thing I've noticed is that, in all of the tutorials it says to choose in the drop-down menu in virtualbox 'MAC OS X SERVER' but i don't get that option. ? I have attached all of the settings i have made in virtualbox and the ModCD screen. ? I can't think of anything else i need to say, except i am running win 7 64bit and my computer model is: Hp Pavilion p6 2200ea Desktop ? Now i just have to wait, please don't hesitate to reply, as I need as much help as i can get! ? thanks? ? [EDIT] i just realised i should have posted this in the virtual machine forums but i'm not sure how to move my thread ?
  4. This is a guide on how to install windows 7 and Mountain Lion or Lion onto one partition and use the Chameleon GUI boot loader to select which operating system you want. Using EasyBCD is boring and just not customizable Ive assumed you have a Windows 7 DVD and a Lion/ML Install Disk (iAtkos or U{censored}) Ive personally used Windows 7 Ultimate and iAtkos L2 Lion Install Disk You need to download a copy of Chameleon Boot loader also 1. Install Windows 7, while in the install phase, Partition 2 disks, 1 for Windows 7 and 1 for Lion 2. After installing windows 7 Insert Mountain Lion and install 3. While in the Install Phase, Create a new partition with the disk utility(the one you didnt use for windows) and format it mac journaled. install Lion and boot to desktop 3a. if you didnt use iAtkos install disk, use chameleon and install it now. it will install as an application. 4. Now you cannot boot into windows 7. No problem 4a. Reboot and insert the windows 7 dvd drive click next and select repair at the bottom left Select command prompt and type in (type and press enter after each line) Diskpart.exe list disk select disk 0 <---normally your 1 disk with two partitions, windows and Mac list partition <---- if you see 3 DO NOT PANIC, system reserved is where the windows 7 boot location is select partition <----SELECT the system reserved partition(very important, its around 100mb) active<----set selected partition as active exit<----exit the diskpart program now close the command prompt and repair the computer(1st option) once repaired you will boot into windows! tadah windows is fixed. rename your hard drive in my computer to Windows(you will see why later) but you cant boot back into mac? once you are back in windows click start>and in the search bar type cmd>enter type and press enter after each line diskpart.exe select disk 0 select partition <-----select MAC partition(it wont show the names but you can differentiate from the sizes of the partition) active exit now restart ANNNNND chameleon should come up with 3 options system reserved windows mac Press system reserved to boot to windows, and mac to boot to mac TO FIX it to just TWO options Windows or Mac DO NOT RENAME SYSTEM RESERVED AT ALL! YOU WILL MESS UP THE BOOTING OF WINDOWS DO NOT RENAME SYSTEM RESERVED AT ALL! YOU WILL MESS UP THE BOOTING OF WINDOWS boot to mac Click mac hard drive on desktop OR finder >extras>org.chameleon.boot.plist <---copy this file to desktop AND make a back up copy somewhere EDIT the org.chameleon.boot.plist in the desktop BY right clicking and opening with text edit application add <key>Rename Partition</key> <string>"System Reserved" Windows 7</string> to hide useless windows 7 hard drive <key>Hide Partition</key> <string>"Windows"</string> once that is done, save it and copy it back to where the original org.chameleon.boot.plist is on. once that is done REBOOT! and you can down beautifully dual boot and select between windows 7 and Mac Lion/Mountain Lion! congrats!

  6. Hey everyone, so I wanted to find an appropriate forum to post my success story, and after about a week of trial and error, I finally got OS X Working! My system specs are: Gigabyte G31M-ES2L Motherboard (Revision 2.0) Intel Pentium D 2.8GHz 4GB of DDR2 Ram 1 Western Digital 320GB HDD 1 Maxtor 280GB HDD Standard CD/DVDW ATI HD Radeon 4870 A note for my hardware: I know the parts are old, I have been using this machine for a while now. (I think about 4 years.) I got most of the hardware for free because my friend gave me the Motherboard and Processor when he built a new machine. ---------------------------------- So here is a little story to go with this build: I have been a Windows user since I've owned a computer. I have owned this machine for 3 or 4 years now. Last December I installed Ubuntu, so I had Windows and Ubuntu on this machine, but I wanted one more OS to tie it all together. My machine wasn't built to run Mac OS X, but I did a bit of research and found success stories of people who got it working on similar hardware. I acquired a copy of Hazard Snow Leopard, and iATKOS S3. I tried Hazard first, and when it wouldn't work, I became discouraged, and quit trying to install OS X all together. I got struck again with this desire to get OS X working on the week of my High School graduation, so I went at it once more. I did some troubleshooting and managed to get Hazard to boot with my Nvidia 8800 GT, but the card is damaged, and only one output is working. So when I switched to my ATI card, I would get Kernel pancis, and since now I have a better understanding on Kexts and whatnot, I finally, at last, got Mac OS X 10.6.3 Snow Leopard to boot on my machine! For once I got things working perfectly. I installed AtherosL1cEthernet.kext and used VoodooHDA-2.7.3 Installer to get my Ethernet and Audio working. I have been using Mac OS X for about 4 days now without switching to Windows, and I am expecting to use OS X more than Windows or Ubuntu now. Needless to say, I still love Windows and Ubuntu. The fact that I am able to choose one of the three when I boot feels awesome. I feel that I am getting the best of what every option on each operating system offers, and I love it!
  7. Hey guys!, I was finally after a couple months able to install OS X onto my pc, I can't believe the solution was as easy as it seemed. I was using the wrong boot flags etc etc I installed it, already played a couple games on it (Steam) Installed many programs, Works fast, Was able to overclock and reconfigure the OS files to be somewhat compatible with my OC'd CPU aswell as many thanks to multi beasts OC kext. Only bad fault is that I have no audio I installed it onto a second HDD and now I can't dual boot. I was able to start windows 7 like always, then suddenly after I restarted my PC at night to check is mac os x boots, It does. Now I can't start windows 7. I just get a ***** line/"curser" on the top left and it blinks and blinks and blinks but won't boot. I'm honestly stumped. It has nothing to do with my bios as i was able to start windows 7 several times after mac os x installed and configured. What could have the installation done to my windows boot loader or w.e.? Mac still starts fine, but windows 7 doesn't. TL;DR-Installed mac os x, works perfectly though no audio. Can't start windows 7 now. What I need: Someone help me fix Windows 7(If anyone here can) and Help me get Audio on my mac. Specs: CPU:I7 2600k oc'd 4.2ghz Ram:1600mhz 16gb Mobo:Asus Maximus Extreme 4, NOT Z (ALC889) Not a GPU:Asus Geforce GTX 590 Storage:OCZ vertex 4 256gb SSD (Mac os X) / 2tb WD black HDD Dual monitor setup Connected devices: USB-Mouse,Keyboard,Microphone/webcam,Iphone 5 charging, Asus n13 wifi card. Audio jack-Green. If I'm missing anything I'm sorry, I don't go on here often. As for any grammar/Spelling mistakes it's late here and hard to type while you're literally laying down in the chair with your feet on the table.
9. Hi guys. I'm new here on this Forum, so if the Thread is not in the right sektion, please movit in the right sektion. ( Sorry for my bad English, i'm from Switzerland!) I will install on my Laptop (Presario CQ56) Lion. But i don't have the right patches inside the DVD, so i can boot up to install Lion. Iv tried with Snow Leopard often and it fails ( One times it makes "ping" Installation finished, but no Wi-fi driver, LAN Driver and Sounddriver) So, is that possible or i must install Snow Leopard? If someone can me explain Step4Step how to install Lion on my Laptop, i'm very grateful for the Guide and help! Greets Stefan

  11. I have recently gotten a new HP ProBook 4530s. I want to install Mac OS X 10.8 along side Windows 7. I currently have Windows 7 installed on it and I am wondering how I can partition my hard drive to install Mac OS X. I used EASEUS Partition master to create a 100 GB area of unused space but Disk Utility would not let me create a partition in that free space. How can I fix this and install Mac OS X?
  12. Hello members of the OSx86 Forums! This is my first post here, so I hope you guys aren't too harsh if I fail to supply enough information, or if I screw something up. I'm quite noobish when it comes to Mac OS X. So a bit of a background first: (Skip to next section if you don't want to read. I won't be offended) I have been Windows user for as long as I've owned a computer. I absolutely love Windows, and never had a legit reason to hate Mac OS X. Recently I have been thinking of trying out OS X, but I was put down by the idea of losing Windows in the process. I tried to use VirtualBox, but it turns out that my Pentium D (820) doesn't support Virtualization, so I couldn't VM it. So I basically decided to try dual booting Windows and Mac OS X. Okay now there's a bit of a background, now on to my issues. I burned a copy of iATKOS Snow Leopard v2 (iATKOS S3 v2) and installed Mac OS X based on following this tutorial: http://www.osx86.net/10-6-snow-leopard/10953-installation-iatkos-10-6-3-v2-s3-g31m-es2l-w-intel-pentium-d-4-a.html While it successfully installed, I cannot boot into OS X. When I attempt to boot without any flags, I receive a "kernal panic." I am not entirely sure what's happening here, so I tried the flags "-x" and "-v" When using "-x" which is, correct me if I'm wrong, boot in Safe Mode; It shows a message displaying "FILE SYSTEM MODIFIED" and something about a "DSMOS." When the DSMOS message is displayed, it just freezes there, not doing anything. I don't know how long to wait, as I am impatient. I am going to post this now, however I will attempt to add pictures of the errors I'm receiving. So I haven't tried this yet, but I think I will try to install using a different Kernel. Thanks for reading and please if you can help with anything, leave a comment. I will appreciate all the help and support I can get. Thanks. -Mike
  13. I am trying to dual boot my Samsung Series 9 NP900X3C-A01US. So I am currently running Windows 7 on my series 9 and I want to be able to boot from my external hard drive since I dont have a optical drive. So basically, I want to be able to run windows 7, and when I have my external hard drive plugged in, run os X. The mac osx files would stay on the hard drive and my windows files would be on my internal solid state drive. I think my main problem is making the bootable usb drive so that i can boot and install mac onto the external hard drive. I already have the .dmg and the .iso files of osx lion and the external hard drive i am using is the Seagate? Expansion 500 GB USB 3.0 Portable External Hard Drive (STAX500102). What I have already done is mount the iso file onto the hard drive and changed the bios settings to usb. I'm not positive if I mounted it correctly or not because after I mount it and try to open the hard drive's file, it tells me that i need to format the drive. is it even possible for me to do this? much help is appreciated. thank you so much.
  14. Hey guys so I made two partitions with disk utility, one fat32, the other mac os x extended, both as guid partition table. Installed windows on one, snow leopard on the other, then lion over sl. I then found a chameleon.pkg installer, pointed it to the lion partition and installed it, and when I restart, either the boot loader is not there and I get some boot0 error, or other times when i re installed everything and tried again, and I click the lion partition, the apple logo shows up, and disappears, and restarts. The same thing happens also when I use MB{censored} and choose the chimera boot loader option. I tried doing that boot1h trick with manually installing chameleon to the partition, but it didn't work. Any suggestions?
  15. I haven't touched hackintosh in a while and was willing to try it out again. I wanted to see if anyone can help me with dualbooting win 7 and iatkos s3. One of the main reasons I haven't tried this was because I did something that messed up my windows partition, not allowing me to boot it up. Also, I don't have a system restore disc nor do I have a win 7 cd so if it messes up I'm out. So what I need help with is installing iAtkos on my separate partition while my win 7 partition is still there without having to erase everything ( I am unable to backup all my important files).
  16. Thanks mostly to everyone posting on these forums, I've gotten Snow Leopard up and running inside Virtual Box on my Desktop: AMD Phenom II X4 955 (3.2 GHz) 8 GB RAM Windows 7 64-Bit I set the thing up mostly using the process here but to summarize: Used EmpireEFI4 for AMD Using the Mac OS X Server (64-bit) Configuration Gave the Machine 2048 MB of Memory Installed from ISO made from legal retail copy of Snow Leopard The install completed and I can boot into the OS without any problems. As far as I can tell, the OS is running as well as can be expected with no kernel panics but for some reason I can't get the guest OS to recognize more than 1 GB of memory: And here's the the memory setup from Virtual Box: Anybody run into this problem or have any suggestions for getting the guest OS to notice that I'm giving it more memory? Is there anything else I should be checking? Any more information I should be providing to help provide clues? Thanks in advance!
Alvast bedankt, Elspongie
  18. Hi, I recently built a "Dual Boot Hackintosh with Windows 7 PC". Installed each operating system into a seperate hard drive and everything is OK by now. The only "problem" I've got is that everytime I log on to Mac OS X Snow Leopard, I see the "Windows 7 hard drive" (named "Untitled") on the MacOSX Desktop mounted. How can I hide the Windows 7 hard drive from the Mac OS X desktop? I dont want Mac OS X to mount the "Windows 7 hard drive" everytime I boot to Mac. Anyone? Thank you in advance!
