Oldies but Goldies

Recommended Posts

Same of you may know I was a Mac guy since 1986. Of course I could not afford my own Mac those days,

my wife brought home her MacPlus from the office on weekends and holidays.

In 1988 I bought the new Amiga 2000 and the Mac +? A-Max emulator.

Finally in 1992 I could afford to acquire a used MacII (M5000) which served me well for a long time.

Besides the huge possibilities of Macintosh in DTP there are also some cute games to remember.

From 1984 there is ThinkAhead+ and I am presuming that my copy was among the few ones preserved.

I shared the game via Emaculation and Macintoshgarden of course: http://macintoshgarden.org/games/think-ahead

The game only runs from System2 MFS volumes, so the MacII was my last Mac capable of playing it on real hardware.

This game was ported to OSX (PPC) in 2005 by the ThinkAhead+ addict Sippan:

(Game file is included as attachment.)

Some flavours are available for Android, good for many smartphones, though I like the old style design much better.

Roughly ten years later, Arthur Edelstein made his version of Mastermind.

We had color on Macintosh meanwhile, no more monochrome nine inch display!

There are some flavours of Mastermind for Android too of course, this one is well done with a appealing desingn:

Which were the most ancient Mac games you recall?

Are there ports to OSX, iOS or Android available?

This is Sippan´s (aka Durandal Brytting) wishlist from his ReadMe for porting games, though I doubt any of those made it to X86:
