FireWire PCI issues

I just built my first Hackintosh this week to use for music editing by converting a Win7 machine I already had. I have a Syba SY-PEX30016 PCIe FireWire card that I wasn't able to get seen by my Mac OS (El Capitan), so I ended up ordering a StarTech PCI1394MP card (PCI, not PCIe) to see if I had better luck with it. Arrived this evening and ran into the same issue. Saw about IORegistryExplorer on this site and downloaded and ran it. I was able to see the StarTech FireWire card in the list, and when I plugged in and turned on my Mbox 3 Pro (what I absolutely need the FireWire for) it appeared in the list as well. Thing is, I'm not sure what to do with that information and how to make it work within the system. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Other than the card the system is running smoothly.

My setup is:
ASUS P8Z77-V LK (updated to the most recent BIOS)
Intel i5-3570K
Nvidia 460GTX (although I'm running the OS X Default Graphics Driver)
Sandisk Extreme 120GB SSD
