Troubles with restart and sleep.

Recommended Posts

I have everything working, it appears, except power management and restart

When I restart, the screens go dark, but it never proceeds.

When I sleep, it never goes to deep sleep.

If I can solve these problems, I will be golden.

Thanks,

Paul

UPDATE

Ok, i have it solved.

In addition to VoodooPower.kext. I had to install:

SleepEnabler.kext

and then:

OpenHaltRestart_1.0.3.kext

Now my sleep and restart works correctly. Never did with the EFI-X dongle. They kept telling me it was my power supply

Not only that, but the bonus is that my network functions under Parallels and doesn't shut down my connection, like it used to.

This works so well, I might install this on the main disk.

Thanks,

Paul Oberman

Another update

Got ahead of myself.

When I try to sleep, it works on occasion. Mostly, it sleeps and then restarts. If you do that process twice in a row, it goes into a loop of sleeping and restarting.

Same thing as with the EFIX dongle

so i unloaded sleepenabler.kext and openhaltrestart.kext, as they didn't seem to be helping.

I am really at a loss about this sleep thing.

Also, the voodooHDA.kext doesn't let my keyboard audio controls.

Anyway...

If you have a properly functioning DSDT file, all you should need is OpenHaltRestart.kext. Additional kexts like VoodooPower aren't necessary.

Well, the file I am using is: DSDT_EP45T-EXTREME.zip

This is my motherboard. Is there some sort of a test I can do to see if this file is correct?

I have the file dsdt.aml in the extra folder, on my usb stick
