Boot Failure when AHCI Enabled

Recommended Posts

I can't get Windows to boot when AHCI is enabled in the BIOS.

Is this because I installed it with AHCI disabled? How might I go about resolving this? Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

If I recall, I remember downloading some Intel drivers... I think from Gigabyte web site... then going into Windows (non AHCI) and manually update the drivers and point to the downloaded drivers... Not 100% of procedure, but something like that.

It would help if you first told what version of Windows you are using, if it is Vista or 7 then it is very easy to fix, if it is XP then you have some work to do.

This is for Vista and 7.

D'oh! Damn. Sorry. Windows 7.

Ok, then it's easy. Change back to IDE, boot to Windows, do what the instructions tell you to do, reboot, change to AHCI and that's it. You now have working Windows as well.
